Yes, if you have a DC event in your amp it will just do a single sound, then no more current flows through the speaker.

What listening distance would be acceptable for the Asathor?
I sit pretty close to my speakers, about 240 cm.
Is that to close for the drivers to sum properly?

I have 2 meters between center of the speakers, and 2,40 meter from frontbaffles to sweetspot.
Works perfect for me

The 240cm is already the lower limit of what is useful.
The Alta Voce would be an excellent alternative that also works well at distances of less than 250 cm:
