I'd vote for race car design.
The UK is head and shoulders above any other country in that subject.
We build almost everything racing related here like Subaru, Aston Martin and Ferrari GT racers (all made not far from me by ProDrive), practically all F1 cars except Ferrari and even Ferrari was thinking of relocating their F1 operation to Britain around the time they signed Schumacher.
Also most of the Champ Car chassis were made here (Lola, March and Reynard).
Add to that AP Lockheed. I'm pretty sure prodrive is in Coventry...mind you jaguar land rover isn't far either.
Mind you, lets not draw the midlands into it too much. After all BL was hardly renowned fir excellence
Prodrive is in Banbury, the northern most tip of Oxfordshire.
I go past them every time I travel south and every time they are a bit bigger than the last.
Last thing I read about them (presumably in Autocar at my GPs) was that Prodrive has become the worlds largest manufacturer of racing cars.
