Are they plated vias ? I was assuming single sided for the IC's
I was assuming they were single sided ICs
I think these were pretty simple circuit boards from the early 90s 🙂
I will have a close look though
Quick update,
finally managed to get a TDA 1541 A based CDP to cannabalise - after getting one that I thought was ok but had a TDA 1541A R1, which I didn't bother using.
Now fitted into Arcam Aplha Plus and played it for a glorious hour and......
no crackling WOOOHOOOO
many thanks for all the suggestions and help
PS anyone want the remnants of a Rotel RCD 855 minus TDA chip? 😉 just cover the postage

Just had a quick read back on what it was all about 🙂
That's great news... well done.
Thanks Mooly - I am very pleased to have rescued my Aplha!
having the same issue with arcam alpha 5 cd player
found this thread while google researching the same issue. cd player signal becomes more & more covered with static-like sound after 30-40 seconds - as far as I can tell its the DAC that's at fault (based on hours of internet research !).
does anyone know if its possible to buy a replacement tda1541a or a different replacement ? & also, how easy it is to replace one of these ? I can use a soldering iron but i've not done much with circuit boards etc.
