Hello all it was good to meet you...
And great to hear the Orion's... especially briefly on day two out of the churchy room...
Both myself and Emma had a great couple of days and sorry to have to bolt early on day two without really saying goodbye, we were on a tight schedule 😉

Andy,
Thanks for that. I'll might have a look into that. Maybe just a slight deviation from what I normally listen to 😉, but worth a look.
I guess I never got involved in the classics because I didn't have a clue where to start.
Cheers,
Phil

Okay then.
Here are my photos for reference (they're a lot smaller than the originals to get them under 100k).
Firstly, the open baffled speakers (unfortunately, I don;t know much else about these, other than they had a goodmans driver, some carpet, a valve amp and they sounded great):

I think those OB's had Lowther EX's in them as well as a pair of Goodmans Axiom.

The only way is to post them on another server like photobucket and link to them.

Last one of the Orions.
So, this lot is the Active filtering and amplification?
I assume one box for filtering/EQ, and one per audio channel.
If so, is there more than one amp in each box (IOW is this triamp then?)?
Very cool.
Sounded even better than it looked.

How did those Fostex(es)? sound? Got snarled up in M25/M1 traffic and arrived 2hrs late so never got to hear these. The braided speaker cables look impressive!

Last of all (you can all breathe a sigh of relief!)
Lest we forget the headphone amp corner...
Furthest away is Bill's basic headphone amp.
Then Bill's three channel version (using a third channel to provide the return path).
Then, John's Kumisa III amp, sat on top of his CD63, next to his Sennheisers (600? can't remember).
Then my quiet headphone amp (by John's standards 😉 ), and my beloved Grados.
Later, Simon also brought his Sennheisers along, and Les brought his Grado SR125s. Thankfully, I couldn't tell too much improvement, although some, between my SR80s and the SR125s (however, that does mean I'll have to upgrade to at least the SR325s = more money. D'oh!).
Anyway, that's it.
Cheers,
Phil

Hi Les,
The Fostex sounded really good I thought.
Louder than I was expecting from a full range. Plenty of bass, if not completely precise, and very reasonable treble.
I think Chris's speakers had the best controlled bass though.
Cheers,
Phil

There seemed to be more top end coming off the Fostex ones. But the toblerones were smoother sounding. Choose your trade-off.
