Anyone up for a UK diyAudio Meet?

I'm not going to be able to bring much, but if you're interested, I can bring my discrete headphone amp and Grado SR80s. I have no frame of reference and would like to compare it to others, especially an opamp based one. Its probably rubbish (I know the PSU regulation is), and is due for a rebuild, but should offer a useful comparison.

Cheers,
Phil

Ok folks, the numbers are looking good, but we have plenty of room for more! 🙂

I'm in a rush at the moment, so this is a brief update, the Tentlabs demo will be on Saturday. I'll post a full schedule in the next day or so, but I expect that it will be fairly informal apart from the discussions. If you can't bring any kit, try and bring a cd of pics, and I'll set up a rolling demo on the big screen to get people talking.

Back in a bit.😉

I kept a spare one for your DCX. 🙂

Thanks 😀

Shame you can't make it Adam.

Ye, i could have come along and break other peoples equipment, then it would give everyone something to do when they got home 😉

IL have to come up to sheffield some time, plus a mate is moving back up there to complete his LPC (extra year studying law after degree), so il be up a lot anyway 🙂

Looking forward to meeting you all over the weekend.

Sadly I won't be bringing anything of note which is annoying because I've got some interesting stuff on the go but its all in a non or barely working state. 6 months seemed like such a long time when we originally agreed on a DIY meet... where did it all go? 😉

No big loss though, there's going to be awesome kit here by the sounds of it anyway. I'm particularly interested in Jans modded DCX and, of course, Viks Orions with SKA's 🙂

I'm glad your coming up here Gordon. I'll pray for decent weather and maybe I can bring the compressor and shoot paint at some point. If that comes off I could end up killing two birds with one stone - folks get to see a bit of spraying if they wish and also progress on the speakers I've got going on at the moment. I'm not holding my breath though, the forecast for the weekend is pretty poor here in the Midlands.

Sounds good. Would love to see the guns in action.

Took a look on the MetCheck website, prediction for Sat is pretty good, so fingers crossed.

BTW Do we have a definite timetable for what's going on and when yet?

I've been trying to make my CD63 work today. I've successfully changed the laser for a new one and hard-wired the ribbons to the mech. It still didn't work and, with help, it's come out that something near the servo is not right (a cap maybe) and my Audiocom clock is faulty (started going into meltdown). Also a resistor that feeds the front panel was almost open due to overheating and the front connector was mashed (probably related!). All problems fixed or being fixed!! So anyone interested in hearing a VERY modified CD63ki will be able to.

Can't wait to see and hear some nice gear!

Power Amps for Free

I have 2 olden but golden Trio L-05M mono block 150W power amps going free. One works fine but the other need some new transistors. also have circuit.

If any one want's to collect at the Festival or other time from Derby let me know.

A trip away clashes with the diyAudio Meet and I'm sorry to have to miss it. I would have enjoyed meeting the people from the board and the talks sound really interesting.

To all attending, have a great weekend and post plenty of pics and reports here when you get back to your computers.

Colin

Colin how would you feel if I said I was interested in those Trio's but had the intention of stripping them, using the cases, traffo's and connectors and do away with the rest?

I'm asking because I'm not sure if your wanting these to go to a loving home where someone will put the time and effort into repairing them.

But if your OK with the above and if you don't get someone who's interested in repairing then I'll take of them off your hands.

Ps. I would totally understand if you didn't want these chopped up for spares and parts. So please feel free to say "no chance" or something similar 😉 It does seem a shame to do that to them but my electronics knowledge is limited. However the cases look sturdy and I could make good use of those later on down the line.
