Anyone up for a UK diyAudio Meet?

That's a pity Simon. You could bring your preamp to run against the Lightspeed passive I'm bringing. I'll also have the Twisted Pear Myref power amp and a couple of mains cables (that make a difference :devilr: ).

Don't expect fancy cases though.....in fact don't expect any cases 🙄

In DIY there is no such thing as "....barely worth bringing....." !
Everything is game and exciting to look at and listen to.
You will know where it stands on a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 will be the best sound at the meet.
Then you can go back and work hard to get up to 10 if you want to and also have the time .

Have fun guys. We await the pictures and listening test results.
Cheers.
Ashok.

Me is definitely out of the gathering.
Mrs Wacko has had major surgery a week and a half ago, can't leave her alone in the shack with 4 Oh-Man Damiens for the weekend.
Wishes for 2 glorious barfing days.

Al-Pi,
i've got some of the big fossil Toshibas numbers gift wrapped for you, already sent you an email for directions.
Get in touch if you still desire a couple for your SlimAslime.

I've been a bit intermittent Jacco, so I didn't get your mail. :xeye:

Sorry you can't make it, and I hope the missus gets well soon. I'll drop you a line after the show to discuss the trannies. Thanks.

Well, better late than never, here's a working schedule for the weekend. If you arrive much before two on Saturday, we'll probably get you stacking chairs or moving tables. 😉

Things to bring:

Yourself
Lots of kit to listen to
Any specialist cables you require, we should be able to supply power and standard interconnect/mains distro
Beer/wine if required
Favourite audition CDs. Some will be available, but you might have to suffer my taste!
Spare stuff you have lying around for the swapmeet. I have it scheduled in for Sunday, but I'm sure we can set up a few tables on Saturday as well.

We will try and provide basic tea and coffee facilities, ( you might want to bring a mug!), and some nibbles.

See you all tomorrow!

Just returned home, shame I can't make it on Sunday, but here's a couple of pics!

I'm not sure if Ant's addition of a drill driver to the top of his LGT has the same affect as adding feet to a CD player. :whazzat: 😀

Nice to put some faces to names, and cheers to Vikash et al for the hard work in organising it.

How did the Orions sound ?
Any pics of the inside of those amps ?
Cheers,
Ashok.

Hi.

The Orions were really good with excellent bass. However, it was generally agreed that the rooms were far from ideal for listening - too much room boom!

Also on demo was a 2 watt triode amp, headphone amp and a selection of other speakers.

As said by sploo, it was good to put a face to names.

Let's see what today brings.

Andy

May I record thanks for the generous and friendly reception accorded me by folks I hadn't met before. Special debt of gratitude is owing to the organisers and to those who made very long trips to attend with what was very interesting kit. A special thanks to Jan Didden for travelling all the way from Belgium with Hugo and for his fascinating presentation on feedback and error correction techniques.
