Anyone up for a UK diyAudio Meet?

Hi guys, at the moment I'm waiting on Pinkmouse and Shinobiwan to return from their hols to get that info. I'm not sure when they're back exactly, but watch this space for further info. And I would probably wait until they're back before you book any accomodation.

The date and venue are confirmed AFAIK. The entrance fee we briefly discussed was £7.50. I think Pinkmouse will be handling finances, so again, we'll wait till he's back and I'll then add the functionality to confirm bookings and take money to the website.

Ok, an update finally...

The entrance fee will be a £5. Proceeds will go to the charity running the venue provided to us, and some for 'bits and bobs' that might be needed on the day I guess.

The venue is confirmed, for both days, and I'm going to start taking funds to confirm attendance. I'll make a little web-form for people to fill out and take paypal payments.

We're going to scale back from our initial plans a bit and make this first event a very informal, simple and comfy affair to keep the organising to a minimum.

I'm swamped with work and other stuff at the moment so no time for a pretty webpage to take payments unfortunately.

Please make payments to Paypal account vikash@purplecoral.com
£5.00 per person (for both days).

Important!
When making payment, make sure you provide:
- your name
- email address
- number of people attending
- whether you're attending on the saturday, or sunday or both days.

Saturday will be a full day, and Sunday half day.

If anyone has any tips on the best way to get to Chesterfield internationally let me know 🙂 I can get a decent price (Singapore) to Gatwick (Emirates) but would appreciate any local knowledge of the best local airport to get a domestic flight to (East Midlands?) that can provide semi-affordable transport (bus/train?) to Chesterfield... Cheers! 🙂

Hi

You could also try Emirates to Manchester

Here is the train information.

Andy

EDIT
Gatwick is not the easiest airport to travel from!!!!!
Go to Manchester - it's already in God's country.!

Shinobiwan has asked me to point out that the day will start after 1pm on Saturday as the building is being used in the morning. But I think we can go as late as well like - hence the whole day I mentioned. Sunday will be morning to mid afternoon-ish.

I'll post a timetable up soon once I've spoken to those giving talks.

This is what I got from Al:

Jan: Al, how far is Chesterfield from Manchester ?

Jan: It's about 50 miles, by rail, you'll need to get a train from the airport, then change at Manchester Picadilly for the direct train to Chesterfield.

Ok folks, time to get properly signed up! Pop on over to the website, and send your £5 over to us, then I can start getting a list of kit and demos together. The sooner you reply, the sooner we can get an impressive looking schedule together!

However, I do have a little bad news. Due to pressures of work, it looks unlikely that SY will be able to attend and give his talk. This does mean that the beer will last longer for the rest of us though! 😉

I'm very sorry to say that I've suffered some major ear trauma as a result of falling drunk off a 10 meter flying fox, into a river, and on to the side of my head. Oh the things you do to try and impress girls :faint:. (Very) Perforated eardrum and other nasty aural side effects. Gross pictures and audiogram available on request. Specialist says its quiet-time for up to 6 weeks to let it heal so I'm very upset to say I'm out of the running for this one. I would have loved to be there and I'm quite shattered not to be able to make it. Good luck with it guys, I'm sure you'll do us all proud.
