Re: Re: Re: BC and Seattle - Audio Fanatic Hotspot.
The UK town of Mansfield (12 miles from the meeting at Chesterfield) used to have the highest ration of females to males in the UK - I don't know if it still has?.

12 miles? Geez, I wish I had known that before telling my wife that she could go to the UK with me.

Isn't it spelled as Nuttingham ?
Back in the old days all it took was to check where Top Deck and Kontiki Tours dropped their load.

Certainly used to be called "Snottingham", but the Normans aparently had problems with pronouncing the "S", so it was dropped.
Just as well they didn't do that with Scunthorpe...
just as well us UK domiciled readers know what your talking about.Just as well they didn't do that with S****horpe...
I am surprised that the dictionary prevents one referring to that town.
The dictionary is over zealous (I intended using another word but the dictionary would have obliterated it - something to do with mistaking it for a WC.)

I suppose the Normans were able to pronounce the P ?
(on the other hand, C---h---- United would have made an interesting socker team

That is a good idea. I think we should do that.

LOL! I knew that, AND got it down on my UCAS form, but didn't quite get the grades to get in.I thought it was Nottingham? (I filled in my UCCA form before finding that out.)
Not that it would have mattered in your case. It would simply have meant that out of one hundred prospective engineers, you would have had a choice of two girls on your course. Now, if you'd done a languages degree...
Education. 20:1 ratio, and gullible.
Inevitably, the "1" was always one of us physics guys getting some recreation.

I agree there is limited choice amongst the engineers themselves.
Thankfully, I ended up where the ratio of engineers to psychologists in the university worked better in my favour.

Gentlemen
I have only just found this thread, and I am unable to find a mention of either a date or a venue in the pages I have read. So can anyone take a minute to tell me what is proposed to happen where and when please?
Thank you.

Click the link in pinkmouse's signature. I think ShinObiwan has the same link. End of July. Chesterfield.
I am going to the ancestral homeland after the UK DIYAUDIO Meet -- somewhere East of the Churchillian "Stettin to Trieste".
Take a look at the last entry:

Who's the 'press'?
I've got visions of photos, with us lot looking rather inebriated, appearing somewhere they shouldn't. 🙂
As a precautionary measure, I vote press pays triple for entry which should disuade them attending. 😀

I'm amazed at the number of folks interested in the DIY meet. Its great to see so many DIY'ers wanting to get together and enjoy this wonderful hobby.
But sadly in light of this I also have to ask the question; When are we going stop the signup? I'm getting a little concerned about the building size vs. number of people vs. everyone enjoying the two days. It looks like there's 84 people signed up at present.
I think its fairly safe to say 25%, as a minimum, of folks signed up will attend. But if everyone shows up, thats a lot people and a hell of a lot equipment to listen to! 🙂
On the other hand it seems a shame to stop the signup and turn fellow DIY'ers away and especially so considering that others, who did sign up, may not be able to make it on the day whereas the folks we seemingly turned away, could have.
With all that said, I do think we need to be realistic about the potential maximum number of folks the building/meet can support.

Well, if it helps, although I indicated 3 people, in reality I don't think my wife and kid will come anywhere near the place except briefly to say hello.
