I'm amazed at the number of folks interested in the DIY meet. Its great to see so many DIY'ers wanting to get together and enjoy this wonderful hobby.

But sadly in light of this I also have to ask the question; When are we going stop the signup? I'm getting a little concerned about the building size vs. number of people vs. everyone enjoying the two days. It looks like there's 84 people signed up at present.

I think its fairly safe to say 25%, as a minimum, of folks signed up will attend. But if everyone shows up, thats a lot people and a hell of a lot equipment to listen to! 🙂

On the other hand it seems a shame to stop the signup and turn fellow DIY'ers away and especially so considering that others, who did sign up, may not be able to make it on the day whereas the folks we seemingly turned away, could have.

With all that said, I do think we need to be realistic about the potential maximum number of folks the building/meet can support.
I think we'll know real figures once we start taking the entrance fees. Which we should sort out soon...

Just under 8 weeks to go...

How are your projects shaping up??

With all the equipment people are going to bring has there been any discussion on how to organise it?

Some sort of 'show and tell' would be nice for those happy to stand up and talk about their projects. Could anyone bring a laptop + projector for the slideshows? A few of us might want to wax lyrical over our latest labour of love, the fruition of all those hours spent hunched over a hot soldering iron in the shed?? 🙂

OK guys, sorry there hasn't been much info on this recently, but being unemployed has slightly distracted me from the topic. Hopefully we should be able to get things moving soon. 🙂

Len, we will have a couple of computers and a projector there for the talks, and if you, (or anyone else), wants to bring along a CD of pics, I'm sure we could get slideshows going during the quiet times, and if people are interested, I'm sure informal talks could be arranged on the day to fit around our more organised schedule.

Number of people I'm taking

Well It was going to be me and wife so we could have an excuse for a night out on the saturday.

Anyway my 7 year old may turn up because as he's just said "I listen to them more than you" meaning my Senn HD580 and Kumisa III headphone amp!

He's not interested in his laptop he has would rather now use my desktop and my amp!!!

Anyway - is there anyway to get in touch via email etc and ask the people who have registered interest?

Regards

John

Attendance

Regarding numbers I regret to say that since I haven't had any (real) work since February I am not sure if we are going to be able to attend.

As to crowding concerns my partner would in all probability mosey around for a little while looking at all the shiny stuff, then go off and find a corner someplace and read a book (or two).

Best wishes,
Susan.

I don't know how many of you Brits are aware of the London Audiocircle, but we meet once a month in a pub and have very interesting home meets. We're DIY builders, which includes some of the characters to be found on the pages of DIYAudio.

It would be useful to link up in some way so we are aware of each others events.

For those wanting to try us out, come along to the next London pub meet this Wed. 27th from about 7pm at the Grouse and Claret Pub, 14 Little Chester St, Belgravia/Victoria

We also have an email forum. Andy Evans

Still no work, so regret is confirmed.
Pity, I was looking forward to the weekend.

Unfortunately, you have just confirmed why, after getting my EE degree from Southampton, I never took an EE job... I was sponsored through uni, won a really good prize that came with a job offer from "a major computer manufacturer with a base in Havant"... but moved into IT & then finance instead....

Of the 80 or so who graduated with me that year, I doubt a handfull are still practising engineers...

I'm still proud to call myself and engineer, but could never earn my living at it... (maybe I'm just not good enough).
