Interesting that this chip drives the focus coil and when upside down it would be easier to raise the lens, under which conditions the unit reads the disc reliably. Will change and report back for others.

Just to add further info to this thread about the Industrial CD Engine Decoder and Servo PCBs, the Sugden Optima also uses them (with Sugden’s own single TDA1543 based DAC board - sounds far better via this than it has any right to, but is also an excellent transport). Interesting for me is that the Industrial Servo board seems to have connectors to support both a stock CDM9/44 spin motor, plus the CDM-9pro hall motor - Optima uses a 9/44, I guess reprogramming CPU would be needed to swap between 2 motors? Also note, in Naim CDIs you can replace a 9/44 laser head onto the Pro mech OK, but not a 9/63. No idea if that is software or hardware related.
