anyone interested in a jung regulator pcb group buy?

Hi,

I have asked ALW and algar if it is ok to suggest a group buy of jung reg pcb's on the forum and they have both approved, as usual a diy non profit affair. I tried to attach the eagle pcb layout but the file is too large. So is anyone interested in pursuing this further? I'm sure we all have uses for regulators when tweaking and if there's enough of us perhaps the cost will be worthwhile....

There will be work involved with gerber files etc so we will need someone to volunteer for this. I can help out with shipping etc in the UK.

Thanks
Raja

Interested in 5 sets of +ve and -ve. Will help in Uk but cannot host large files.

Hi fmak,

Well I'm glad someone else is interested also, but we'll need more than a few boards to bring the price down sufficiently. Anyone able to do a gerber file for the regulators from the eagle layout? And perhaps suggest a pcb maker who can do this at a good price. I want around 10 boards or so............

Thanks

I have direct access to a local electronics maker. He burns all his own boards, and also does multilayer? he does double side as well.. Small runs. Any of the crew here want to do a run of some really tricky DAC multi layer boards, we can make a go of it at pure manufacturing level expense. I will only entertain it if the files are properly set up, and exorsized, etc.

Hi,

still at a sticking point with gerber and the drill files. I've never used either of the programs or designed boards. Anyone upto the task?

7$ a pcb is fine, I think. I'd go for around 10 at this price........

Thanks

Uses ?

Raja,
I'm a newby watching with interest. I've visited several sites to gain an understanding of the uses for this regulator. Is the following correct?

Current capacity ~ 1.5A
Voltage Max ~ +/- 15V (Can this go higher?)
Applications would include those which would benefit from a low noise power source such as pre-amps.

Thanks for your efforts.

Find below the manufacturing files for the positive version (can someone please see if they are ok) I have split them into top, bottom and ident as separate files they can be generated as one complete file if required.

I could also save them as a bitmaps if someone wants to make the pcb’s from plots (a bit of rescaling may be required).

Let me know if the above is of use and if the other pcb –v version is required and in what formats (file per layer, all in one file or bitmaps?).

If I can get my head around the http://www.alw.audio.dsl.pipex.com/...v2.9_Iss004.pdf
Information I will probably redo the layout in protel as one single + and – pcb as it would be less expensive and I could make it so that it can be cut in two if required.

Hi Mark,

I've never sent files off to a manufacturer before for pcb production, so if you know what's best I'll go with it. Having the negative and positive versions on one cuttable board maybe of use, but my gut feeling is that there's more of a demand for positive regulators than their negative counterparts, ofcourse I may be wrong and I do need some negative boards too.

Whilst we're on the subject, can someone suggest a good reasonably price pcb manufacturer in the UK who can undertake this?

Thanks
Raja

Hi Raj1,

I would suggest that some one send the previously attached files and request a preview plot from a pcb manufacturer, most did seem to prefer separate top, bottom, silk and so forth (as attached in last post) due to the fact that they then don’t have to mess about working out what layer is what.

If someone has time do searches for something like gc preview (or pcb file viewer) if my memory serves me correctly it is (or was) a free viewer only version of a program called gc place generally used to gain coordinate data (for automatic assembly) and to change the paste mask aperture sizes for the correct stencil manufacture.

Please report what you find.
