Anyone build this Seas all metal 3 way?

I've never had an issue with Seas metal cone units. :scratch1: Within that context, if there's audible HD amplification in the operating BW, it's the result of misusing the driver, either with too high a crossover frequency and / or insufficient suppression of the main cone mode, which arguably ammounts to the same thing. To be sure, they usually don't have the lowest distortion motor designs around, but in fairness most are well-engineered / implemented.

It's not the motor but the membrane breakup I believe that contributes to the huge odd order distortion in the upper midrange / lower treble. Yes Agree to the need to lower the XO point and choosing tweeter that can handle a lower (and steeper) XO.

Yes, I'm aware of that, hence the comment about 'insufficient suppression of the main cone mode'. The remark about their motor designs was intended to be a separate, generalised note. However, they're inherently connected, since IMD, or the audibility of resonant amplified HD products depends on the baseline distortion performance of the driver and its motor. If those HD levels are sufficiently low, even when amplified by a cone mode, they are, or should be, inaudible. If they aren't, which is frequently the case, that's when you can run into trouble unless you properly address the issue -in this case stamping on the cone mode sufficiently hard.
