Those motor run caps, I see in the amp. Is there a significant audible improvement using them?
I have some 10uf wima caps laying around but I am considering buying some 100uF motor run polypropylene capacitors.
Is it worth it putting them in?

my workis always like that - when I'm actually makin anything for serious ( not counting Bonsai/Ikebana prototypes )
motor runs are there from two serious reasons :
1. they give you serious improvement in "snap" of sound
2.they're much cheaper and much more potent than usual audiophool solid caps ...... and - in same time at least of same quality , if not even better ; they are , at last , of industrial quality ; our preferable brand is Icar Italy
talking about amps - look at picturte of another one - made under same circumstances - pcbs and work are mine , everything else is - of less skilled Serbian DiYA member
so - previous one is completely dual mono : 300VA donut , 2 secondaries through 2 discrete Shottky Graetzs ,4x33mF/25V Panas , 2x50uF Icar caps per channel
this one is one 600VA donut for both channels (two secondaries) , then 2 discrete Shottky Graetzs 4x33mF/25V Panas and zx50uF Icar caps per channel ; so - only donut is shared between channels
I can't hear any significant difference between these two , even if that pure dual mono have silver cabling for input and preputium Monster cabling for speaker
edit - just disregard unusual amount of usage of term "serious" in this post

A search on "Magura inductor" here on the forum, should give you a fair share of info.

I believe the biggest improvement comes from having separate power supplies per channel not neccessarily transformers, just the way you have done it.
Also 2 x 300VA transformers take up more space than a 600VA transformer, so unless you are doing monoblocks (ie separate amp cases), then I would also do it your way.
Just go with the biggest transformer you can afford, and then go with separate rectifiers and power supplies per channel.

I think what he was trying to say, is that the difference is so insignificant that he can't tell which sounds better.
So while there maybe a difference, it may not necessarily be in the dual transformers favour.
The room that 2 x 300Va transformers take up, could be used to fit a single 1000VA transformer. I know which one I would take if you were trying to fit your amplifier into one case.

That would be the 2x 500Va 🙂
Dont forget they are intended fore relative simple and sensitive speakers
If you dont need the exstra power, huge "monsters" doesnt always sound better, or maybe even worse
Maybe you should try it first.
Naim use an 800VA transformer in their preamp which draws below 100mA.
I am also reasonably sure Nelson uses a 1000VA or larger transformer in his XA30.5 stereo amp.

I had this custom wound by Hammond. It's rated at 50 amp; has a DCR of 0.018 ohms; inductance of 300 mH. Cost: $120.00

BTW, I had to purchase 10 to meet the min. order pricing. Weight is around 15 lb. and I think shipping was $111.00 from Canada for the lot. At least that's what the shipping invoice stated in one of the three boxes. It may have cost $111.00 per box...
