I just won a replacement screen for a plasma display on Ebay for $355. Meaning, I hope I won at least 1/2 of a working display. I hope I can order the remaining parts and make a whole display out of it.
Im approaching this like a lcd panel I believe all the necessary parts are on the back and are included, hopefully this will be like a plasma TV model kit... hehe

heres a link anyone here have any ideas? I hope all it needs to "work" is a power supply that I can order from NEC. we'll see.

If the display itself works and has no burn, that's over 90% the cost right there. Just the fact that you could hold on to it until someone sells a broken unit, you'd be set.

Buying original parts brand new would obviously be a fortune. But again, if you buy a controller card, and can make your own enclosure, you've got a nice plasma for <$1000.

if a controller card for a small 10" - 15" lcd panel is like $300- $400 how much would a controller card cost for a panel that is 42"? might not be resonable what so ever. expecially if it were HI-DEF.

hopefully, it'll work out for you but it seems to good of a deal. $200 freight seems a bit much.. and the -1 feedback, i would have stayed away from that.

The Digitalview SP-1600 costs $650. It controls plasmas as well as LCDs. There aren't exactly a million different types of plasmas out there (unlike LCDs), so I'm sure you could call Digitalview and tell them what it is and they'll know right off the bat if it will work or not. Assuming he has a perfectly good working display, it's worth it. Even if you don't make your own enclosure, you could mount it in a wall or something. It's an amazing deal if it works.

I didn't see the -1 seller rating, so I do wish him good luck. But if it's a good unit, then he scored big time IMO.

the guy says he has 28 left. there are two auctions running right now so there is still a chance to get one. i would be very interested if it would work but who knows what else is needed to get that panel running. might need a receiver-card-tuner/input board/power supply/panel buttons etc...

seems like alot of work.

Anyone heard of a NEC plasma model 4203?

well guys I've got them. 2 of them.. but I paid $250 total for the 2. I picked them up myself so no shipping. 🙂 AND, I have absolutely no idea what model they actually fit. the man says they are NEC model 4203. and the serial number confirms this.... but. I've exhaustively searched the web and I can not find this model anywhere, so I guess I'll try my luck reading the serial to the NEC tech support people. anyone ever heard of this model? its an adventure I guess.

Seriously. Call Digitalview. They're very nice and cool to end-users Most of those places treat you like dirt unless your a big company looking for an account. They're not like that. I would call them and just be straight up. They specifically have end users in mind (hence the hefty price tag). Tell them the model number of the PDP and hear what they say. There's can't be that big of a difference between PDP models.

You won't have much luck with NEC. At best, they can confirm the model that the PDP is for.

Ok, I emailed them for you (way too late to call). I expect a reply sometime tommorow. I gave them the model number and said that we don't have or know how to obtain a datasheet.

With any luck either:

A) PDP displays of the same resolution all use the same data interface with the same pinouts and the same type of cable.

B) There are a variety of different interfaces, but they have all the info for the 4203 and can sell a cable interface along w/ the controller.

well, I called digitalview and the sales rep wasn't there so I left a message to call me back.... The NEC tech guy had absolutely no idea what I was doing, he was very confused and didn't even know what display I was talking about.. He just kept saying "You bought something that you didn't know what it was?" but anyway a reseller for digitalview is supposed to call me and the SV-1600 seems to be the controller car that will sdo the trick but I still need a power supply.

there are several auctions on ebay ive seen for replacement plasma nec panels... the one i saw was a dutch, 10 available, for $125 in baltimore (i was going to go pick it up), but im waiting to see if anythigh comes thru with this--yes, could u please take some close of pix and let us know exactly what has to be added?? if it is just the digitalview card and a 300w power supply---that means u can build for <1g--very nice price for a $8000 tv!

this is what $125 buys you

Well the digitalviewcard is roughly $550, but This isnt including the power supply and cables. So Im trying to find out how much the "kit" is, including everything Someone said they would like pictures.. I dont know how to attach more than one pic at a time, so sorry about that..
