Sorry for my bad english 🙂
I used 3 file ( main.inc , main.asm (rename from main_wc.txt) and pic16f877.inc with MPLap IDE to make a projekt .
Everithing ist ok , I have a MAIN.HEX and compiled to my PIC16F877 .
But I have a problem , LCD is : "Initializing ........ " , and nothing was happens .

What can I do now ?

1. 40 pins are checked: OK
2. CD ROM (Samsung DVD ROM) is master: OK

-> the same problem

our curcuit ist the same as yours.

when i use your file pic16f877lcdv5.hex, the DVD run but music just 3sec then no tone more, but LCD count. then when i press Pause then Play -> music comes good but LCD don't count more.

i think that the problem is in our hex file. I don't konw exactly how to or where to edit this code file.

when needed, i can post photos later.

1- i checked connections
2- i checked wiering
3- i checked pic programming process
pls say your pic programming parameters
example osc. type , watchdog timer , power up time , Brown out reset & .....
i think i have a big problem .

What 's problem?
Does the LCD screen show any thing?
What your programming method ( low volt programing or high volt programming? for my program need to use high voltage programming.
Do you change CDROM pin to Master?
For setting already declare on beginnig of program.

Check wiring carefully?

The lcd shows nothing ( only in line 1 blank characters ) .
I use a Melab programmer in high volt programming .
My CDROM brand is A Open 52x in Master mode .
For Programmin i use this setting :
Osc XT
Watchdog timer Dis.
Power Up timer En.
Brown-out Reset Dis.
Low Voltage Programming Dis.
Flash Program Memory Write All
Code Not protected
Data EEPROM protected
I checked point voltage & wiring carefully .
when i finished programming the programmer shows ( programming OK & Verify OK ) .
I don`t know what happened .

If programming is OK.
Wiring is OK.
At least LCD must show
Initialize..
Loading..
If not,so please check wiring and solder point again.
Check your procedure to program PIC with simple program and circuit that verify that you still can program this PIC.

Can you take photo of your board with Macro Front Side & Back Side.

Anyone still working on this?

I am looking into sorting out a few tweaks, i.e using internal osc, removing the buttons for through holes to facilitate remote buttons, POSSIBLY porting the code to Hi Tech ergo Ansi C.

However I am also in the middle of a degree and just started a new job so may take some time!
