America cup and Eurocup defined by penalties

Is it the legendary iciness and reliability of the Germans? Southern European countries are at a disadvantage in this respect 🙂

A lot of practice and sticking to a proven recipe:

Hit it hard and low into a corner of the goal.

Even if the goalie guesses correctly he has not the time to get there. If he does get there he moved to early and the penalty will be repeated.
Over 90% of German penalties follow these simple rules.
Of the 3 failures to convert against Italy in '16 one was saved by the great Gianluigi Buffon and the other two did not follow those rules.

That will depend on several factors. It is an almost mathematical formula, okay, but nerves and anxiety play a very important role at that moment, both for the kicker and for the one who wants to save.
The "problem" is the speed of the ball vs. the speed of the goalkeeper's legs and his intuition.
It is NOT a penalty without a goalkeeper.

And if not, ask the Italians, I do not say it because of the upcoming event of the Eurocup, I say it because of the semifinal of 1990.

Unfortunately the English simply messed it up, not least the lunacy of putting all the pressure of the final onto a 19yr old for the last penalty, substituted at the last minute instead of a seasoned player. Poor kid, that was bad.

The English go wrong much earlier.

Some players just say that they can't cope with the pressure of taking penalties and therefore never even practice them properly.
When it comes to a shoot out the managers so far always asked for volunteers rather than making everybody practice until the cows come home.
Frequently dedicated penalty takers are out injured or have been substituted earlier in the game.

Have you seen the link I attached ? The ball was directed to a post according to the formula that you proclaim as infallible. A little further to the left of the goalkeeper (*) would have been a risk for the kicker, he can hit the stick or go outside. Likewise, Goyco was already thrown that way and I think he would have stopped her anyway.

(*) For work reasons, I used to travel to Lima, (Argentina, not to be confused with the capital of Peru) there the first nuclear power plant in South America is installed and Goycoechea was born there. In those years (he had already saved the famous penalty) the people of that small town, who knew him as a child, told me that he was "very good under the three sticks, but that he did not know how to go out to close angles"
Just a memory.
