I've been pondering the same. The old forum software was a nice hangover from a simpler age of internet where the important thing was to get as much information on the screen as possible. The new forum sw is taking me some time to adjust to, even after starting on the beta program, but I realised after thinking about it that there are more things at play. For example
1. Less arguments going on. This is good as it means a number of $expletives have gone or been banned. It is all to0 temping to jump in and fan the flames and keep coming back to see if there were some embers to poke. A few new eejits have turned up but I just avoid them now. It never actually got anywhere.
2. I've got nothing useful to add to most of the discussions so I'm lurking more. This is good as some things might finally sink in
3. Over the winter my backlog has gotten worse again to the point it's embarassing. I need to find more time to actually do the hobby rather than talk about it in amongst all the time suckers that you get with young kids (and they don't get much better as they get older).
4. SWMBO was getting grumpy with me going on DIYaudio as soon as the kids are in bed so I get a couple of hours less to waste away each day on here. This is also good.
But although very little has been happening on the electronics front I'm seeing a lot of interesting speaker projects going on which gives me hope that I might finally get off my **** and build some better speakers in less than glacial timeframes.

This is a long due dream of myself, to get into the speakers/acoustics world. Unfortunately it is more easy to dream than to start; I lack a space for woodworking, the basement is not a good place even with a dust collector, and Canada is not friendly for outside working (6 months of winter, last week we had -27C). I have a relative which is a pro kitchen/laundry cabinet builder and installer, but he declined doing anything that resembles decent furniture. And there are surprisingly few knocked down speaker cabinet kits, with blank baffles (I have a CNC to do them).
I also lack the woodworking skills and sadly the designs of the late SL made with plumbing pipe do not meet the approval of the interior design committee. But I know of people in UK who can CNC cabinets up so if I ever get spare money and make my mind up what I want I will go there.
They said they will make some changes per the "customers'" feedback but I haven't seen those yet. There is something about the new forum look and feel that just doesn't make it inviting to post / read.
Well, that's a member from 2019 talking to a member from 2005 telling him to F**k-off.If you don't know why you're here and you don't like being here, why are you here? Bye-bye.
That is the problem, it used to be the most friendly forum on the entire internet, unfortunately, with contributions like this, it is heading into the same direction as all others, please don't let that happen. Please keep it friendly and keep the overall quality of the forum high.
If this can serve as a motivation, over at the headphone systems section, Mark and his master J. are working as a tag team to steer the unsuspecting readers towards certain direction.
I hear the same complaints whenever there’s an update to Windows.
1. Get over it
2. You don’t like the forum? Leave.
There 300k +!members who get a kick out of doing this stuff. If the high and mighty experts aren’t happy that the ‘level’ isn’t good enough, go and do something useful like write a good book on the subject or lecture at a university or college. AFAIK this place is about having fun, no matter what one’s abilities.

That looks very good. Wait a minute... is that a USB micro connector? Then you know a revision 2 is on its way 🙂At least I was able to finish the XMOS interface for my audio analyzer project. Fortunately there's no shortage of bits, so the software goes well, almost done.

Good advice but maybe those that don't like the looks of the new forum have the same intention to have fun?! I recognize the feeling as expressed by some in this thread and personally I am contemplating for some time now to sign off and forget about audio fora alltogether. If more people experience this or similar something must be going on that causes that.Bonsai said:

As said, I think the Covid situation causes more than we at first seem to realize. It is probably not that people don't like change but that the change is wrong time wrong place.

Not only that. There is an error on the silkscreen as well 😉That looks very good. Wait a minute... is that a USB micro connector? Then you know a revision 2 is on its way 🙂
Oh yes, the whole thing will be single board, without the SMA connector forest. This is still prototyping, to get a fully digital working model, then add the analog I/O (big challenge, an autoranging analog amplifier with -130dB or better distortions).
There are two LRCK_ADC, the middle one should be LRCK_DACWhere? Nice challenge BTW.

I took issue precisely because the comments from the member from 2005 are exactly what you are unhappy about: "used to be the most friendly forum on the internet".
Here they are. Nothing about them is friendly.
"the quality of the current existing content, this followed a down path for years now"
"the bore of endlessly teaching the basics like the Ohm law"
"the same dusty implementations of 50 years old concepts and circuit topologies"
"the same stupid/wrong advice"
"I subjectively perceive as an impersonal and unfriendly virtual environment."
The member from 2019 will now excuse himself.
And why so much real estate? MMCX takes much leView attachment 1023417ss space.
Because I had to fit the SMA connectors and UFL for prototyping are a PITA, they fail in the middle of testing. And because 4x4 inch 4 layers at JLCPCB is $10 anyway. Ready to share the STM UAC2 code?

Excuse me, but did I say anything incorrect, or it happen you disagree with my position? Wait, I can see now the axe you are grinding

Two LRCK-ADC SMAs.Where? Nice challenge BTW.
MMCX takes the same space than U-FL but is as robust as SMB (min. 500 mating cycles).Because I had to fit the SMA connectors and UFL for prototyping are a PITA, they fail in the middle of testing. And because 4x4 inch 4 layers at JLCPCB is $10 anyway. Ready to share the STM UAC2 code?
