polarity is correct during measurement. Indeed 4A thru 1 bad cap should be the recipy for some serious fireworks (no vent in caps ).

Since my dayjob is rather demanding at the moment it will take me some time to rebuild de psu, luckely the A5 was driven thru a sugden intergrated amp with pre-out it's got so I'm not completely ampless at the moment, although the sound is rather flimsy compared to the Aleph

not been my experience...

...when I've used a meter to measure electrolytic caps, it hasn' t mattered. Perhaps I've been lucky, or maybe the voltage my meter is using is low enough it didnt cause problems. In either case, you are quite right, it could make a difference...

...is there any chance the cases are touching on adjacent, opposite polarity caps? I have always packed mine in pretty tight, if there were a short...

Could it be the temperature inside the amp that killed a capacitor ?
Or did you use 105 Celsius caps ?

Just after i'd finished my Alephs, i see a dutch DIY' er in trouble
I'm getting a bit scared .......

So I rebuild the PSU and there's nothing wrong.

With no resistance to it I get a nice 6A on both side pos/neg.. Voltage is ok to. So that started me wondering.

What would happen if 1 of the connections of the bridges was a bad solder....?

So now it's only rebuilding the complete amp in the case again . Which I now will make a bit more servicable while I'm at it.
