Shipping charges...
Hi there,
Just curious what the shipping charges were like for
those who ordered from the US?
Thanks,
Dennis

Has everybody received their heat sinks? I have not, and haven't heard from Theresa either. Just wondering what is going on...
😕
😕
I got call last Friday, that the second batch of heatsinks was available for pick up. I'm going there right now.
The UPS man just knocked on my door and delivered
my 2 boxes of heat sinks! : ) (8 total)
have to say mine look great, a couple of tiny marks
here and there, but nothing to get upset about, in
all they look great. (and a lot bigger in person!)
A big thanks to Peter and everyone else involved in
pulling this off, i would have never been able to get
this quality heat sink at this price on my own.
Hopefully in the future R-Theta will do business with us
again.
Thanks a lot again Peter!!!!
Now lets see some pictures of the amps that will be
produced!!!!!!!!!!!

moe29,
Did Theresa send you an e-mail when they were shipped? Were you aware that the heat sinks were on their way to you?

I think I got an email from Theresa that says something about the second batch of heatsinks will be going out on late Jan or early Feb. I have not received my heatsinks either.
I was there today and all sinks to States have been shipped. They didn't mail the invoices yet, but they are all in stamped envelopes ready to be send.😉
I didn't get an email... but i did get a call today from
Theresa - about a problem with my credit card, and
she told me that they had shipped on Jan. 30th. Then
a couple hours later they arrived at my door!
So i imagine you should be getting yours very soon

My heat sinks also arrived earlier in the week. There was a problem with my credit card number as well, so I called Theresa to straighten it out. She told me that many orders shipped on the 30th of Jan, so they should be arriving shortly.
The heat sinks look great! Thanks to all who helped organize this buy! I can't wait to warm them up with some mosfets!

I am glad to report that mine were waiting for me when I got home last night. They look great although two of them had some minor nicks on the edge of the fins. It was easily fixed with a permanent marker.

lookin good
I just got mine, and I have to say I was getting a little scared after hearing the reports of marks, but they look very good. There are a few very small silver marks (I guess they're arcing) but really insignificant. I also couldn't find the electrode contacts in my brief inspection 🙂
one more nice note is that I was expecting COD for shipping (I thought those were the terms?) but it turns out that the shipping was included in the original charge. I'm glad they did that so I don't have to give ups any extra dough. also shipping was ten bucks under Theresa's estimate.
overall I'm very satisfied

I hope Theresa checks out this thread some time so that she
knows that there are a lot of satisfied customers from the
DIY purchase. Having spent many years in customer service
myself i can say that in all my dealings with her she was kind,
courteous, and prompt. A+ service in my book. I hope we can
do business with her and R-Theta again.
was there ever a final total of the number of heat sinks we
ordered? I know it was over 150 right?
(there must be a lot of DIYing going on out there
now that everyone has their heat sinks and
Aleph-X boards 🙂 )

mounting mosfets
When I mount the mosfets on the sinks, is it best to sand off the anodized layer, or mount as-is?

Peter,
Do you drill blind holes into the heat sinks or do you drill
all the way through. If not i guess i'd have to pick up a tap that
is used for tapping blind holes?

I drill blind holes. First I use regular tap and then I retap with a modified tap which has the tip shaved off (for deeper action).
