Twisted pair of 23g silver takes its place in C1 position. I don't have any bi-polar electrolytic caps so that will have to wait.

Temp on heatsinks ( 45°C ) run 10°C cooler.

You should crank that thing up... a bit...

I run my Aleph J at 0.5V drop across those 0.47 ohm / 3W resistors. I noticed an improvement in sound going from the usual 0.4 V bias to 0.5V. The 5U heatsinks are very hot, but the sound is very nice 🙂

That's 25W of dissipation across each MOSFET... (my rails are exactly 24V loaded). The 5U case seems to be adequate to dissipate all that heat... only just 😱

And I've ordered a few pairs of bipolar 100uf caps for the PS.

I just may twist that dial just a bit.

I've been wondering about this myself, adding some high quality caps right at the terminals of the amp board. 100-200uF between +/- and ground. May have been ExtremeBoky that tried black gates across the block leaving the PS board. Eager to hear others thoughts on these supplemental high quality caps.

Hi, I don't have any soft start in my Aleph J.
I tried one cheap from ebay but it reduced dynamic. My transformer have two wires on primary so it's not possible to put thermistors between the primary. is it possible to put in series before the transformer?

You can add heatsink compound between the 2 heatsinks and also where it adheres to the front panel, if your chassis is the 5U/400mm Modushop type. And use Ceramic insulators instead of Keratherm from MOSFET to heatsink if you like.

Best,
Anand.

It is supposed to get very hot.

When you turn the amplifier on, it is cold (room temperature) with a resistance of around 10 ohms. It acts as a resistor, and it limits the in-rush current.

As the current starts running through, it gets quite hot very quickly, and its resistance drops to around 1 ohm (or lower). It will continue to run hot (and keep its resistance low) - this is a normal operation, don't worry about it. Just give it a bit of space to "breathe".
