Pre amp arrived this evening! Thought about getting it up and running tomorrow but couldn't resist. Tomorrow more time to listen to it.
Is the 10 pole flatwire to be connected on the dac:
J4 to frontpanel?
or
J5 to pre amp?
Connected J4 on dac to frontpanel.
I can:
adjust volume
adjust balance
choose different channels
I can not:
change filter
I do not see:
the right sample rate on the front display.
It only shows PCM 44.1
What am I doing wrong here?
Well, checked everything.
10 pole flatwire from (frontpanel)marked connector to frontpanel,
20 pole flatwire from pre amp to frontpanel
flatwire from rotary encoder to frontpanel
Pictures... Can somebody see what I'm doing wrong? Am I doing something wrong?
Everything is working except the filters and displaying the right sample rate...

No I did not...
That would be this firmware:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vendors-bazaar/274456-ak4490-usb-dac-dsd-support-71.html#post4561023
And then I would only have to update this file: ak4490 USB DSD DAC Shortdelay slow roll off 271215 display

Thanks!
I'll have to go to the shop first to buy a RS232 to USB cable.
Hope this works on a Mac running virtual Windows...
Get well soon Sonny!

You do not need to Upgrade the frontpanel. Only the DAC. It is done in Windows using the Windows driver.
The driver can be found on My homepage. Shop->USB DAC + discrete

Got Windows running on my Mac.
Downloaded the driver (for discrete dac) from Mirand site.
Downloaded the upgraded firmware for the dac:
ak4490 USB DSD DAC Shortdelay slow roll off 271215 display
I connected the dac via USB and XMOS USB Audio 2.0ST is seeing the dac
Status: USB Audio Device:
xCORE USB Audio 2.0 (cannot select anything else)
Current Sample Rate 441000
Info tab shows Manufacturer: XMOS
Product: xCORE USB Audio 2.0
VID/PID: 0x20B1/0x000A
Revision: v 1.27
Driver info: Version 2.26.0ST
Release Build.
Looks like I cannot load new firmware this way...
(Sorry I'm not a Windows user, been working with Macs for over 25 years...)
What do I have to do next?

Got it!
I was using xmosusbaudiost305C_cpl
But should use xmosusbaudiost305C_dfuapp
Let's see if it works after I've connected the dac to the pre amp again...
