hi, you guys are awesome, but there is another issue, the sound is truly beautiful but the subwoofer is breaking up around the cone where it moves up and down. Fragments are falling off see images please... - it's breaking my heart... I wonder how hard and expensive it would be to replace the subwoofer speakers - maybe I could match them online then fit and solder them in??. Also, I can not register to join Audiogon - it's not allowing new registrations...

That's unfortunate, but also very typical of foam-surround woofers of a certain age. Yes, the woofer can be replaced, but I don't have any specific recommendations. You might consider selling the speakers as-is (with full disclosure regarding the woofers' condition) and let the buyer deal with finding a suitable replacement and possible modification to the crossover. Afterall, how much work do you want to put into something you are just going to sell? Whereas, for the buyer, replacing the woofer could be a labor of love and an interesting journey.
Raymond, you have the exact problem I described in my original response to you. It’s unfortunate, but as AcoustatAnswerMan said, you may need to sell them as is unless you wish to take on a project. I repaired mine with an inexpensive kit, but had to remove the woofers to do so. Ironically, I sold the pair of repaired woofers on eBay really cheap just a couple of years ago and went with separate subs.
yeah, maybe they are more for an enthusiast 🙁 makes me sad but to be real it has to happen. Xstreet, can you remember more details of your fix?
Don't worry, Raymond! The electrostatic part of loudspeaker is the essential in this setup. The conventional dynamic cones are well renovable and lesser determine the originality.
I purchased a reasonably priced repair kit for a 10" speaker from Parts Express. It comes with everything you need to repair both speakers, including glue. It may be possible to do the repairs without removing the speakers from the cabinet, but I think I removed mine first. Basically you just clean off as much of the old disintegrating foam as possible and carefully glue a new surround ring in place. Not rocket science, but requires some patience. There are youtube videos on the process.
Hi Xtreet as Acoustatanswerman I am now tossing up wether to fix or sell and if its worth the hassle being I may be better off with a set of wall speakers....
I believe this is the kit I used: https://www.parts-express.com/Surround-Kit-For-10-Speaker-Foam-260-925?quantity=1
Love it, and it looks so easy in the videos. As AAMan said, the electros make it really good.. so maybe its time to restore.. love you guys and will be asking for advice soon as this is deceased estate audiophile stuff.. I will check in.. p.s. I checked AU ebay and found some things, please have a look if youthink I can use this stuff. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...0.l1313&_nkw=10+in+ch+speaker+repair&_sacat=0
Hi everyone, I'm a new member, I would like to buy some Acustat Spectra 1200 speakers, but they seem unknown... does anyone have any information on the quality and spare parts, I think I read here that they were produced in Italy. Thanks for anyone who can give me information
Mayloc,
I thought you were making it up at first. I doubt they were imported into the US, as I have never seen them for sale (used) here.
You may be able to get them from Italy...

The similar Spectra 11 or 1100 would be worth considering.
The Troubleshooting Guide I posted earlier should help keep them running. Maybe a schematic is available for the 1200 somewhere.

For any of the Acoustat models NOT produced by Acoustat USA (i.e. manufactured in Italy or China), I think you will find little to no information about them, and very little in the way of replacement parts or service. This is not to say they aren't good speakers (I have no basis for an opinion of them), but know that if you buy a pair, you will be on your own if they need any repair, and more than likely, they will not be repairable at all. I have no information about them, but I am quite sure the panel construction and electronics are different from the USA-made products. Buying a USA-made pair will greatly increase your chances of obtaining information and parts and will therefore be a safer and wiser investment.Hi everyone, I'm a new member, I would like to buy some Acustat Spectra 1200 speakers, but they seem unknown... does anyone have any information on the quality and spare parts, I think I read here that they were produced in Italy. Thank you for your advice, I will look for the 1100 model or higher when they are not far away to hear them
Wondering if someone knows which IC was used in the Acoustat Servo Charge amp? I'm using AD713 but I got them with TLO84. I'm curious what the original sounded like. The original Acoustat X manual has it in the parts list but it's unreadable. TIA
Here are 2 versions of the Servo-Charge Service Manual.Wondering if someone knows which IC was used in the Acoustat Servo Charge amp?
Looks like earlier versions used: OP-11, TL-084, or HA-4741-5 and later versions used: LF347N or uaF774
