A little help with ICE 1000as

Yes, that will work. But you may not be able to achieve full output from the 1000as without a buffer. The amp requires 4v p-p input to achieve full output, and most RCA outputs are 2v p-p.
You are correct. Using my Rotel preamp, I can drop the speakers output and bump the sub up to gain a pleasant sound. On my Lexicon MC8 v2, I’m in trouble. I’m using balanced output, but there’s still not enough output volts to get the sub up to a decent volume. Any thoughts on what can be done?

Use a buffer stage with gain. The IcePower modules where designed to use a buffer in most circumstances. Using my miniDSP, I have set up a special output setting that goes to "11" by increasing the input gain to the MiniDSP. I only use this mode for certain low volume CDs from the early 80s which were recorded with very low compression and average output (but glorious dynamic range). If used on modern music it can clip.

I finally have a bead on all of this. Using my Rotel preamp, I’ve been able to boost the sub up and bring everything into balance. This very small class d package has enough current to make two heavy cast frame woofers jump from the frame. The Rotel RB-1092 amplifier contains two of these ice modules inside. I’m a fan.

I picked up a Rolls device that converts balanced to unbalanced and so forth. It has a pot to adjust the output voltage. The amp is in service. I’ve tested the sub design using the amp. Tremendous power. The cabinet is flat from 17Hz-200Hz. Really pleased. Rolls also makes a little active crossover. It’s the best sound I’ve heard from this new cabinet. Especially excited to see sub 20Hz performance from this cabinet size. Thx all.
