X-rays are ok for a first look. Bug him to go through them with you.

Its not free we pay a lot of taxes to keep it. Procedures that ar enot critical sometimes have a far too long waiting period, bu tif you need help quickly the system is really good.
My mom got here new shoulder same day we took her to emergency. Within an hour and a half from being picked up by the ambulance, Goc Robinson was slicing open my abdomen to save my life. 5 months in hospital gave me a solidly positive view of our health care system. But i also am experience the current doctor shortage, trying to get the fix for my inflamed nerve plexus, but even thou it is a prescription renewal she has to see me 1st (being a Nurse Practitioner she probably has to be more by the book). A 3 week delay with significant pain and a slowly increasing resurgence of the issue, and likely will require a bigger hammer to fix. Trying to end-run the wait, wish me luck.

cog - you'll likely need an MRI. Not sure how it's done up there (over there?) but I had to see the specialist in order to have him order it. The second time, maybe two years later, for the other shoulder, I couldn't see the specialist until I had the MRI, which I guess could have been ordered by the physician's assistant that I saw. A cortisone shot took care of that problem.

The way they did the diagnoses and prelims with me was with an x-ray and ultrasound scan.
For the detailed picture they used for the shim they did a 3D CT scan.
Actually the CT scan was supported by another x-ray to determine the spot and direction to inject the contrast for the CT into the joint, which was an uncomfortable feeling.
Then finally the nurse and me placed an arrow on the shoulder with a sharpie to make sure they did the right one ;-)

Someone I know walked out of a hospital after the consultant marked up the wrong breast for a lump removal... At that point you would not trust them with a knife.
IIRC the socket is high density polyethylene. It avoids metal on metal sliding which in the early days caused heavy metal poisoning.
Ya coulda just asked, I woulda printed one up for ya..
Not sure where to get some gamma rays to sterilize it's though...

I watched the doc do my vasectomy. He asked if I wanted one of those screen things to block the view. I told him no - I want to watch (make sure the deed was done 😀).

Well being one with a bad shoulder, like others here, I can sympathize Jan. Hope this one recovers well and that the next one goes even better.
I have a question though. What is your clavicle connected to? It seems to be just sticking out into nothing. I am guessing that’s because we can’t see that part in the X-ray?

Hi Cal, it was the subscapularis they cut. Important for rotation so that's what I absolutely should not do 1st 4 weeks. It appears a pretty important and wide guy.
And yes, I think the insert is invisible because nonmetallic. I didn't lookup the pic in my files until after I left the hospital, will ask him next time.
