*blah blah blah weight blah blah blah POWAH!*
Sorry about that 😀
DIY hydrofoil using half-throttle on a 2hp Yamaha.

Is it a boat, is it a plane? No, it's a Hydrofoil!
It's a bit hard to fish from a sea plane, Bill!
open door. stick rod out. Fish!
Kaffi, my son's a boat mechanic; I'll get him to try that! He has an 8hp Yamaha too!

Which is safer? A rhetorical question of course.
#1 is cruise ship engineering center.
#2 is Boeing max
#3 is airbus380
#4 is dc-3 with modern avionics , steel & hydraulic controls.
I wrote embedded real-time for 2kHP recip engines and lm2500-lm5000 gas turbines, deterministic and collision based communication buses, and ground support equipment.
Started in the seventies on river traffic VTS system and ended career on automated well completions eqpt.
All programs have numerous fatal bugs.
Facts, just saying...
I still fly but take a chill pill.

Here is an even more bumpy landing by a four engine plane.
They looked like they were coping better in the videos linked to so far but this one looks vary bumpy.

Wow! They probably need a tire change on that one!

That is the same landing as Bill posted in post 1167.
OK that is cool. And yes I know Bob probably goes to fish things a bit bigger than that, but a snapper makes a nice supper.
I noted today in 737 news that a few people are saying the Coronovirus outbreak is taking a teeny bit of pressure off Boeing as a lot of carriers are having to ground aircraft due to the reduced flights.
I liked these ones, got to go on a prototype/test unit back in 1976, as my scout leader was an engineer on that program.

The Facebook did not work for me and it is not obvious why so I put up a copy from a different site. That is the same landing as Bill posted in post 1167.
Those surfing boards take up almost as much space as a passenger boat though, on account of the kites.
If pressed to choose, I'd rather have one of those small sailboats I posted.
But I'm a bicycle person at heart:

Phase, those are nice! I wish there was more love for hydrofoil, more efficient than hull submerged in the water.

Furry muff!
Was a scary landing though and it looked as if it should snap the wheels right off. Definitely worth seeing twice...or thrice
It must have been very uncomfortable for the passengers at the nose and tail when they were suddenly whipped round.
