I recently noticed John Broskie has changed his Low Voltage board to have a separate B+ and H+ supplies, which enables a B+ of up to 100v.

I have quite a few 6N16B tubes laying about, but the pinout appears to be different to the 6DJ8/6GM8 which his board is built for.

Would adapters like this be suitable rather than wiring the leads of the 6n16 direct to the PCB?

I would choose wiring the leads directly to the PCB.

In the case of needing to replace the tube, with the adapter you need to de-solder twice. Without it, once.

That adapter is for when you want to panel/chassis-mount the tubes using PCB standoffs.

This is one option.
Resistive loaded with B+ of 200V.

Aikido is basically replacing the resistive load (Ra) with another triode + Rk.

Great idea! Have you built this design?

I use 6n16p with 140v, very linear and very little distorsion.
The 6n28p i use with 48v.

I can't find a record of the 6n28p - can you link a datasheet?

48v would obviously be an easier supply to arrange for this board....

If you are building with a PCB/Veroboard,--why not use an 8 pin DIL socket and another on the board, in addition to a normal valve socket....

Solder the 6H16B into the first 8-pin DIL then simply plug into the other fitted on the board.
--If valve to first socket is wired correctly--It doesn't matter which way the valve is plugged into the board....

Its what I did......

Yes--Like that, but closer to the sockets--and no LED's! I used rolled-pin sockets as the round section leads from the valve bulb are easier to work with the central and even spacing of that type socket.

A little high temp epoxy over the socket to the glass is optional, but Ive found that with as short a wire to socket and soldered into the socket pin holes, they are pretty strong. anyway...

I'm using one in my modded Yaqin EL84 amp as phase-splitter in replacement for its transistor splitter stages. Nice little valve the 6H16B....

If you're getting a set of new tube, why not get the tubes the board is meant for? ECC99 should not be too expensive and works with 48V, 100V is even better.

6N16P can work with B+ of 100V. Eyeing on the curve, you should be able to get 2mA of current with Vgk of -1V at Vak of 50V.
