Now, since that pin is right next to the grid pin, you should take some precaution to avoid arcs.
Then I shouldn't use it for fear of arcs?
SY said:Depends. If you make sure that the pins are bent back away from one another, avoid points, and insulate with heat shrink (all easy measures), you'll be fine. This isn't kilovolts, it's about 500V. If you have any qualms, then use a terminal strip.
hey SY,
I'd say it is a bit more than 500V. The plate will have signal AC on it. So B+ plus positive plate swing. IIRC my back-ov-the-envelope calculations for a St.70 that is around 350V or so at full power. 800 V is a peak, and to that we'd add bias and the negative g1 voltage applied by signal. Probably another 100V or so...so we are indeed near 1 kV...heh-heh-heh

Douglas
Have received several emails asking for the instructions for making the 6L6 to 6bg6ga adapters so I thought since I cannot find mine I will attempt to put up a step by step guide here.
Purchase the empty octal base and insert piece available from Vacuum tubes and other suppliers.
Purchase some good wire capable of voltages up to 600VDC but still plyable.
Purchase some Loctite Super Glue or similar.
The wiring I believe is as follows
From the empty octal base
1) NC
2) Same
3) Plate connection of 6L6 base to the plate cap of the 6BG6ga
4)NC
5 Same
6)NC
7) same
8) to pin 3 of the 6BG6gA adapter
* a hole will have to be drilled in the base of the empty 6L6 adaper in order to pass the plate wire thru.
once the wire is thru the hole it can be sized for the correct length and then
have the plate cap soldered to it.
If I have make any errors feel free to advise of error.

Would the part numbers for the two pieces needed for the adapter be
86pc8 and the base part 78S8 The PN 86-PC-8 is avaliable from WWW.tedss.com for $6 ea
The PN 78S8 is available from esrcvacuumtubes.com $2 ea
To me it not worth the trouble to purchase your own parts when they are available from the 6bg6ga tube seller http://www.vacuumtubes.com/6BG6.html
$10 each for the kit is very reasonable it includes the wire and cap also

hey-Hey!!!,
Just a warning; it is easy to make mistakes. Don't even think about using them until you've left them sit for a while and then come back and confirm you've got the pin connections made properly. Time between assembly and final test is critical...I've made enough mistakes on adapters like this to embarras a room full of folks...
cheers,
Douglas

Found these in my garage.
They can be purchased from Radiodaze.com
PN PLG-8-P3 $2.25ea
PN SKT-8-P2 $3.25ea
They also have the HV plate cap.

Screen connection? This would go to pin 4 of the base adaptor..
