My original driver (Eminence 15711) is NLA, but the above driver is available from martinsoundpro.com as their #1844.
The two drivers are very different, but the parameters model virtually the same in my PPSL cabinet. I am going to see what it would cost for another batch of the original, as the cabinet comes out to 8Ω that way.

This is not true. The peak excurison you quote is below the passband, below cutoff. Within the passband, excursion is well within xmax.

18Hurts stipulated 125dB/30Hz/1000W, and stated that the 12Pi will go there (Post #593). As to your speaker being more than enough for the application, I have no doubt.

In the link Djim provided in Post #596 there is a Clearance tab. Right now they have a B stock 18Sound 21LW1400 21" for $299.-- (and a Kilomax 18A for $119.--). With some OSB, that could be part of the "poor man's" Gjallerhorn or the Xoc1's 18.
