Starting baffle step compensation
1.7mH (drivers wired series/parallel approx 5ohm, pretty flat), that was a big help (with resistance around it).
Resistive pot (l-pad) varies from 2ohms (not enough) to 8ohms (way too much) between 2 of the leads.
Somewhere near middle, I'll repost when dialed in (to my subjective ears anyway lol).
I'm hoping 4.5ohms as i have 2 mills resistors that are that value.....

Dang! That's a small vertical sweetspot!
Simmed with an EQ-ed flat TC9 series/parallel with conjugation network but that won't be much different...
At the center height it will counter a rising frequency response but it will drop fast once you move up or down...

Sweet spot is about a foot vertically at 10' away.
But not bad at all 2-3' above that (sit/stand test), you lose some highs, not as much as turning off a tweeter.
Better vertical dispersion than an 8" full range and much wider dispersion also.
15' away, not a huge difference sit/stand.
I think a real copper cap works much better than "under hung".
I'm sure its bother the tc9 is a value performer for the money.
I have it sitting a 28" stand (another speaker).
Box is 6" deep x 9" wide x 15" tall with acoustuff.
3/4" birch ply but 1/4" front baffle and router some air passages due to very shallow driver.
I'm quite happy with it.
If it was baffle step and crossed 200hz (home theater), i bet 3 across the front would be amazing.

Nice work, Norman. Are these the 4ohm variants of the TG9? I have the 8ohm and they are 97% as good as 10F for 1/5th the price.
I did two TC9’s years ago (Nautaloss) and recall it sounded amazing. I used DSP back then but the baffle step you have looks good.
Typically I use 1mH for 8ohm and 0.5mH for 4ohm drivers. Typical 4.7 to 6.8ohm resistors seem to do the trick. 3.3ohms Will give a little more presence.

those nola clones are cute !!!!!!!
I'm thinking like audiophiliac mentioned, that why not have more than 1 pair of speakers, especially if they excel at different things.
Ideally I'd have a monster Dunlavy speaker with my own ppsl 18's rolled in 6db both ways (time/phase thing).
I think that would cover everything for me.
After playing with this a week or 2, then I'll decide if focused array with them.
btw, a 79mm hole saw works perfect for cutting out driver holes, probably work fine for tc9 (same frame).

I did my Nautaloss in 2013, before I knew of Nola Brio’s - not even sure if those were around yet. But mine are sealed as opposed to open back.
I'm selling the tg9 mini driver on swap meet.
Using the funds towards a 9 (or more) focused array.
