2x150W Amp module for sale

The FFA002 arrived in 18 days, not too bad. I have to say before I get it going is this is the most sophisticated audio module I've ever seen. Crazy engineering and assembly. I'll get it going soon and report.

Where's a good point to attach the AC ground wire?

Hi, Scott

Glad to know you love this amplifier module. Please pay attention to safety and avoid some risks of electric shock, and feel free to put your question here.

For the AC ground wire, if you mount the board into the metal case, it's ok to take any points attached the metal case to wire the AC ground wire.

And, if you mount into the wooden case, you can wire the AC ground wire together with this mounting hole

Thanks,

I got the FFA002 up and running. I like the connectivity and wire gauge that came with this unit better than the original 2X150 watt brother. Thanks for that.

The system is an old Onkyo 886 pre\pro run in direct mode to an EV AC1 crossover to the FFA002 above 100hz to a JBL two way with 2206 woofer and 2431 tweeter. Below 100hz is covered by a Chevin 3000A into AE TD15S woofers. The FFA002 replaces an Ashly FTX 2001 Series III.

Immediately the FFA002 is more quiet.

With just a few minutes use.

Tone is warm maybe a touch rolled off but detailed sound.

Getting out some audiophile drek.

Steely Dan Two against Nature "West of Hollywood" is detailed and dynamic all the little dings and chimes come though with excellent imaging and sound stage. Vocals are articulate and deliberate. Bass guitar is easy to follow. Impact is very good and blends very well with the Chevin.

Ray Charles "Fever" all the small percussion sounds like it's coming from the side wall as I like. Again vocal clarity is excellent. Bass is easy to follow all the notes. Bonnie Rait guitar has good bite in contrast to her smooth vocals.

Nora Jones, Carnival Town has nice warm vocals and keys have excellent impact and spread across the sound stage very well. The Handsome Family band sounds great.

Again, this unit has minutes of use so far and less than 30 in total as of the writing. In comparison to the Ashly it is quieter, a touch warmer and rolled off (take that with a grain of salt at this writing) and I would say has more punch and impact. Out of the box it checks off all the audiophile sonic goodness and class D personality we like with nothing bad to say.

I'll edit this post in a few days with an update after more electrons flow through this module. I think it will only get better.

Very good news Eric!
Tell us more about this module please.
George
Hi, George

Long time no contact, I hope everything is going well with you

This amplifier is a universal power supply and it will have two variants: ST version and H/B version.

ST version : 2*250W @ 4/8 ohm,
HB version: 500W for CH1 @4 ohm ,and 150W for CH2 @4ohm;

The interface is the same with FFA001/002.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric
Thank you for responding. I am doing OK.
Very good plan you have here. ST and HB will cover most needs of the power hungry members.
The position of the heat transmitting plate solves a lot of potential problems with such available power.
Regards
George

Good suggestion~
We're building the case for our amplifier modules now, we'll take your suggestion to add this 12V trigger feature.
Eric, TBH, the most useful remote power switching would be an input power sensing turn on/off. Unlike the 12V trigger, this does not require source or preamp sections to be 12v trigger equipped, and needs no extra wire.

This feature is in one of my old Linn Amps (AV5105, iirc). I leave the power switch on all the time. When an input signal is detected, the amp powers up within a second or 2. You might miss a note or two of the first track, but it's no big deal. When no input signal is seen for a few minutes, the amp powers down. I believe the switching occurs in the power supply, because AC power draw drops to just about nil.

This feature would totally up the usability of your amps with folks who use audio streamers that are always powered up, and for anyone who uses a multi-amp setup (for active speakers, multichannel HT, etc)

FYI, this is an option that some people are using: https://dlidirect.com/collections/frontpage/products/iot-power-relay At US$29, not bad even though it add more clutter. Still needs 12V trigger wire but worthwhile if you have no other option for amp auto-on/off.

In Canada, it seems to be only available from Amazon -- for CA$66!! That price is getting up there.

Hi, Mike

Our amplifier module has one main power supply and one aux power supply.
The main power supply supports the output stage, and the aux power supply supports the pre-amp circuit.
There is one power rail (12V_always_on) that can be used to supply the signal sense circuit to trigger on/off the main & aux power supply.
When this amplifier module works in deep sleep mode, the total power consumption is less than 1W.

Thanks
Eric
