If you don't have the SET OT you don't get the 3rd harmonic, and if the tubes aren't loaded down you don't get the 2nd harmonic. So it sounds like a SS Amp. They fixed everything "wrong" with a SET.. Output Z is probably too low too.

Interesting to hear that my observation about SS sound could be attributed to the high NFB and low output impedance!
I never thought about a unity gain follower as having 100% NFB and sounding very SS because of it!
Something else I didn't like about this amp are these two massive caps per channel. I was convinced they are series dc blocking or some type of bias bypass caps, (same difference). I was attributing the flat SS sound to those.

But is not it a typical hybrid that we saw plenty, with tube stage driving a complementary emitter followers biased with Vbe multiplier? It would definitely have a "typical SS sound" since have all it's flaws.
