2007 Maxon Motor Group Buy

Here the tape I suggested on action. You can see the shimering colors of the tape.

When you say "tape," are you talking about the belt?

Also, what and where are you guys getting the platter?

I guess alot of us are building our own platters. It is DIY audio. If you don't want to make your own platter and main bearing go to Audiogon and do a search on platter. You will find there is a Mitchell Orbe platter with main bearing for $690. Another alternative is a VPI super platter with bearing for about $1100 direct from VPI. Teres platters are hard to come by these days.

Yes indeed, it is DIY territory here. I got my own Teres platter and Bearing from this very forun Trading Post section. It how all of this started. Suddenly I needed a motor for my DIY turntable. See my own thread about my Teres project at: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=109561&perpage=25&highlight=&pagenumber=1

Thanks Sean for the payment and your contribution to my motor.

A few new members have been added. I still accept some requests offline until the orders had been placed. I'm only waiting for the last original members to pay. New members are informed that they need to pay right away or I won't accept them. I won't wait a lot longer for them either. Until all the money is all collected, there still a small window of opportunity.

Algar_emi,

Just tell me what I owe you and I'll make good on it, plus whatever contribution the group decides on to buy you your motor. Thanks.

As for the Mylar belt, I would prefer black, if you don't mind. Holographic might be too much of a distraction for me. There is also a special splicing tape that they recommend you use, will that be included as well.

Everyone,

Talking about platters, I was wondering what everyone was planning on doing. Massive and heavy, light and suspended or anything in between? I guess the motor/drive doesn't have a preference or does it? I was looking at the table that Vinyl_addict made and that was MASSIVELY HUMONGOUSLY GIGANTIC! Beautiful work! Algar_emi is building a Teres, though he originally planned on using it on a Gyro. Someone from the old groupbuy used it on a Bix, and said it was a major upgrade. So... what are you guys planning? As for me, I'm undecided but leaning towards massive.

OK. DIY it is. I like that magnetic platter discussed in the analogue forum.

Agent.5,

Clearaudio already has a Magnetic bearing available. They might sell you a platter and bearing. I'll be looking into that as well and maybe implement it on my current table.

I'm planning on having an adapter turned in wood that will slide into my Nottingham Spacedeck motor pod. I will use the top plate from this group buy. I'm hoping the Bix pully will accommodate the stock Nottingham rubber belt, which is maybe 3mm in diameter. Otherwise, I'll be in the market for a compatible belt.

Later on, we'll see. I like the inverted bearing concept, and I have some natural prejudice against acrylic, though it's not a technical one, they just don't sound the same to me. shrug. I'll probably look at a new arm. before I worry about the platter / bearing.

Hello,

I'm new here but listened about this command on a french forum. I'll be interested in a motor+PCB(MK)+pod+cover plate. But what is the pulley, and the box is here to fit the motor, am I right ?

What is the price for all of that ? Is it possible to ship to France ?

Many Thanks.

Thanks atiq19. I got it.

Here the latest payment update. Some of the latest buyers paid faster than some of the original members. Come on guys, lets complete this, I would like to start ordering this week.

Algar_emi,

If all you charge is $25 for assembly that's a bargain. I'll take one too. Thanks again for all your help.

BTW, I read on Audiogon that it is indeed the Holographic tape that performs the best. I should have realized this before I asked for black tape. Thanks again.
