2004 P6001BD Repair Help

I have just received an Rockford amplifier. seems some of the outputs have failed and a component on the board has burnt up. I have never B+ this amplifier as i smelled the burnt components at first glance and took the owners is in word that it is in protection. Anyone have experience with this board and amplifier would appreciate the guidance and expertise.

You stated that it appeared that the outputs failed. How did you come to that conclusion and why isn't it more definitive?

This is only from what i was told perry, now i have it on the bench. i tested the transistors Q210, Q212 are in the mega ohm range the other to are not.? The only thing i have done is removed the burnt component and repaired the board and trace.

Have you tried powering up the amp?

D11 isn't absolutely critical. It burned because someone let 12v contact the RCA shields.

No I have not tried to power it up. I just got it today and posted.

I doubt that there's anything else wrong with it.

Power it up through a 15A fuse or current limiter.

ok so change that component first and power it up? i dont have that actual part it burnt it in half and deep into the board. so i repaired the board and need to order that part (whatever it is). Or power it up with out in in circuit>?

You can replace it with any diode you have. The amp should work perfectly fine except for engine noise if you jumped the pads with a wire. If your signal source is grounded to the 12v supply that's powering the amp, the diode location can be left open.

Ok so i attempted to power up the amp both thermal protection and the power light are lit up yellow and solid?

What do you mean by solid?

Are they both brightly lit?

yes yellow.

I don't understand. Is the yellow fully/brightly lit? It's common for them to be on dimly.

i can take a picture, both the thermal light and power light are lit, i can post a picture of the result. If that would help.

Dimly lit, barely lit. Brightly lit, uncomfortable to look at continuously from directly above.

Have you tried to get audio from the amp? It may not have any other problems.

ok ill hook it and try to get audio from it. i would say just barely lit the both of them. I will attempt to get audio from the amp and repost a picture of the lights and results, thanks

So flick update on the 6001bd. No audio (without diode). Don't have one. Here's a picture of the amp powered up

Post the DC voltage on all pins of U5.
