2 way budget bookshelf drivers recommendation

dear Djeepert, Wolf, thanks!

I've changed the XO and this is the new result

what do you think? I know that there is that valley at 10k but I'll fix later when I'll measure it in box with the calibrated mic

for sure I will too. I built a 3 way active and it was way easier once an expert recommended me the drivers. How I ended up to configure the DSP was way different from the simulation... I want to do passive for get some new challenge this time, on a simple 2 way
I think that mistakes and troubles are part of learning, nobody born as an expert 🙂 and this is why I like this forum!

thanks!

cheers

I'm concerned that the XO is still too low - the graph shows it at 1400 Hz. You're still likely to end up with a destroyed tweeter at some point crossing that low. Plus, distortion will be rapidly rising at that point for the tweeternI'd expect.

I have several Vifa/Peerless/Tymphany tweeters; mostly the horn type. They all sound pretty good to me; especially in this price range. Take a look at the H26 and H25....series. Some have metal domes, some have soft domes. These are the larger horn series of their tweeter offerings. I mention this because with a much higher sensitivity; you have more flexibilty because you can attenuate (pad down) the tweeter by 6, 10, 12, even 15 dB or more. Many of these larger ones can cross lower so with 10 or more dB padded down; you could probably cross low enough to meet your 8 inch and also have enough attenuation to keep the tweeter in the safe zone; especially with a 2nd or 3rd order high pass X/O. There are other large format tweeters that would be a better match frequency and power wise but may be beyond your budget....FWIW...

I missed the detail in your earlier post. The CD horn you're proposing should be used with a compression driver with a throat of 1 inch. You could stay with Eminence or pick another brand like B&C. Also, a CD horn is not really a hifi waveguide, although they can sound great.
