By the way, where does this 44.1KHz garbage come from?
Isn't the DAC supposed to give output signals between 0 and Fs/2 (so, 22kHz) ?

I am not sure but I think it started 1985 and stopped in 1994. Bernhard has S1's from 1996 though as he posted in this thread. Apart from S2's from 1997 I've never seen newer A and A-S1's than 1994 ones. Same for SAA7220P/B.

I have a TDA1541A S1 crown marked "HBH9604".
Is it a fake?

It was in my lab and don't know the source, but it looks brand new so it is not from a CD player.
