I rarely wear shoes. I am either barefoot, or wear flip flops, and have since I was a kid in Florida before air conditioning was available to those who weren't rich.
It is true that some carcinogenic chemicals were found in the dye used in those cheap colored ones found at Old Navy and Walmart. Bad press, and reports of foot irritation made them vanish from the market rather quickly.
The closed toe Crocs are too much like a shoe for me, but I have been using their flip flops ever since I moved up north where snow and ice are possible. They have a proper tread on the bottom for traction in bad weather. They don't make noise either since they have a thick heavy sole, 20 to 25 mm.
I learned that sticking a CCS in the tail of an LTP, and CCS's in the plate circuit to boost gain is an easy way to make a flip flop.
