Does anyone have any reviews they would like to share about the $1 Apex Jr tweeter? Seems like for a buck it wouldn't hurt to try a couple or 20 in a line array.
I would even be happy with finding out what size these are?
Thanks.

This tweeter pulls way above its "weight" class. I've used a lot of them (well over a 100 so far -- not a single one in a line array either -- gotta order some more too) as super tweeters with XO anywhere between 7 & 12k (1st order).
There is a thread here somewhere with them used in a line arrary.
The "wings" can easily be trimmed off for a circular bezel (ie for mounting B&W style on the end of a tweeter pod). We also wave-guide load them using a 45 degree cutout and mount them from behind

PS: Steve may still have the special diyAudio pricing on these

bikehorn said:a tweeter waveguide built right into the cabinet? that is too cool. how's it sound?
used 10k up, they add just a bit of sparkle to a drooping widerange or fullrange.
Here is another ap... these were designed to be ceiling speakers, they would be even better mounted on a wall. They use a pair of RS 40-1197s and are in an ~3" deep box (i think my buddy in LA that has them is interested in selling them too). This shows a similar technique for mounting the main drivers and creates quite an interesting looking shape.

Hey Dave, have you tried any mods to these? Maybe removed the plastic cap(phase shield?). Or disected one entirely? I have had my eye on these for some time and yours is the first report from someone I feel confident listening to.
The ones Scott played with had the phase shield removed... they are there for a reason. I've got a couple i have killed that i could dissect.

Steve :
Have you done any testing on those beasts ?
Looks intriguing for an open baffle line array...
TIA

Flacoman...
Nope, No testing...
Have found out that there made in France by Audex
and came out of Harman International.
Harman, Infinity and JBL as new surplus.
I just checked my website and there was a link to
a 72 on a side (144) line array that was made but
the link doesn't work. I have a call into him to
find out what happened and will followup on it too.

Ancient thread, but I had a question about this tweet.
Is this a 1".
Would it work as a drop in for a Infinity Overture series tweeter ?
Thanks.
Srinath.

I have some Infinity OVTR 1 enclosures and these will not fit the tweeter spot
They measure 1 7/8" hole to hole and 2 3/8 overall width and 1 1/4 overall height
with a 1" inter diameter speaker

Hey man, I've bought those round ribbons from you couple years ago.
Anyway how do they sound in comparison to ovtr ones. I may adapt for fit, that's not the biggest concern.
Thanks.

No I didn't mean to compare the ribbons to the soft dome, just to compare soft dome you have to the ovtr's soft dome for sound only.
You have these soft domes in stock right ?
Thanks.
