The way I look at it is this:
I can afford the cost of a couple of tickets. Not buying a ticket insures that I will NOT win the prize, so I might as well give myself a chance even if that chance is extremely slim. It's more for the fun of it than anything else.

If we somehow manage to fill out 292,201,338.00 different combinations and pay each one 2 bucks, does that mean we have 100% chance of winning the jackpot?
This Saturday’s jackpot now $1.5 billion. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/powerb...winners-one-point-two-on-wednesday-2022-11-2/
So how much of the jackpot would you actually get to keep? Less than the 600 million “investment”? You may very well have to share if someone else guesses correctly, and then of course taxes. Might want to let it roll over one more time before trying that.If we somehow manage to fill out 292,201,338.00 different combinations and pay each one 2 bucks, does that mean we have 100% chance of winning the jackpot?
No winner yet, so the jackpot for tonight's drawing will be at least $2 billion. An all-time record.
Oh oh, someone from CA seems to have won the 2 billion. 🏁
Not us.
Yesterday morning I told my wife to get Lotto tickets. She came back without them, saying she had bought some last Friday.
Well, she can get smart... after getting the old nag how I am wrong...
So, we didn't get no stinking Lotto.
I wonder how much a used Bose soundbar goes for? I guess I better cancel the order for the Wilsons.
It was $2e9 with (I think) one winner. Uncle Sam takes 37%, the State (for those not attuned to our republican form of democracy (in which each state has its own taxing authority)) may take an addition al 15%

12.3% is the top rate in Calimexistan.
And some cities (ie NYC) can take their cut too. At least we don't have VAT.It was $2e9 with (I think) one winner. Uncle Sam takes 37%, the State (for those not attuned to our republican form of democracy (in which each state has its own taxing authority)) may take an addition al 15%

Someone in southern california just won a $1.73 billion (with a b) jackpot.
It was bought in a pretty small town that's a couple hours from Los Angeles.
Obviously in the news today. Winner hasn't come forward yet to claim the jackpot.
They were interviewing people in the town, seems like they are all trying to figure out who won.

Locals they interviewed were saying this time of year there aren't many tourists around, so they are hoping it was not a tourist that bought the ticket.
They are hoping whoever won would spend some of the money on the town.

@egellings Have you seen the price of the ultra high end? Especially interconnects? Yes, these are only in the tens of thousands each, but you'll need several per listening room per house you own. Let's say 5 houses, 3 rooms each, that 15 rooms worth if interconnects, power cables, usb cables, voodoo accessories.. /s
Best Interconnects: $10,000 and Up
plus Pass Amps (just a dream), huge record collection, massive 6 figure speakers, all for each room. And turntables that quote weight by the ton. And a top of the line iPhone to play ACC over bluetooth. 🙂
Well yeah, I guess that's only a few million total. You win, send some equipment my way. 😉
