Anybody know the pin connections for the RUX KNOB cable? Is the knob just a 5k ohm pot for Alpine in all cases?
Thanks
Thanks
Pin 3 is ground. Pin 2 is signal via a 1k5 series resistor.
I don't know the value of the pot, but 5k seems like a reasonable value.

That worked. I measure about 20k on the signal line when power is off. All other wires (except ground) are open. The 5K pot is a bit too much (top 1/3 doesn't do much) though usable. 3-3.5k seems best. My pot measured 5.8k so I put an 8k resistor in parallel with it so it works well through the full range.
Connection polarity is not important except if you are a normal person you want your pot set up to increase bass when turned clockwise.

Sorry to redirect this thread but searching the Internet to find info for the Alpine bass knob was not easy.
OPOSSUM, hope your still on here but do I need to add a 1k resistor?

Thanks for the reply. Although I am handy with a soldering iron I am not an electronics expert..
I was looking to buy one of these pots - 5k0 Log (A) 16mm PCB Mounting Potentiometer
If poss. and I know its a big ask, could you do a wiring diagram for me so I know what connects to what?

Cheers, what about the two resistorsPin 3 to the left terminal.
Pin 2 to the center terminal.
As viewed from the front.
I think I get it, correct me if I am wrong, but the two resisters are on the amp circuit board?
So all I need is a 8k resistor in parallel to make the pop work better?

Hey guys, I am reviving an old MRV-M500 and I have the RUX knob but not the cable. If I remember right, it isn't a standard phone cable. Is one end reversed/rolled?
What do I need to do to the pinout on a standard phone cable to make it work?
Thanks in advance

Well this did not work 🙁
I thought my amp was the mrv-m500 however on the top of the amp it says MRX-M55 🙁 so potential cockup
I am using a cable with rj12 6pin connectors which are connected pip to pin, no crossover.
I have measures the pin outputs, with the amp off, as follows
Pin 1 nothing
Pin 2 14.7 k ohms
Pin 3 1.5 ohms
Pin 4 nothing
Pin 5 nothing
Pin 6 nothing
I am using a 5k pot with a 10k resistor in parallel which brings the pot to 3.5k
So is the problem the output on Pin 2.
Although I enjoy a challenge I starting to think it would have been easier just to buy the propper knob

OK, senior moment. Looks like I had the wrong pins connected.
So it works but the wrong way round, which is not the end of the world. Could this be because its a LOG and not a linear

Could you open it up and take some pictures? Bottom of the PCB and any markings on the pot would be very helpful.
I suspect it may work with the cable straight or flipped.

I'll snap some pix tonight (it's at home, I'm at work right now)
