Well I tried but strange thing the pot would not chgange the volume. Got me scratching my head, anyway I have put it back to where it was and just have to put up with it working the wrong way round.Use the other outer terminal of the pot. That will fix it working in the wrong direction.

Well, I tried to take it apart. Took the two side screws off, and the PCB had another screw holding it down, but also it looked like I would need to roll the sheet metal body, too, to get it out of there. I don't want to risk mangling it up.
I'll just try a regular RJ11 cable when I get the system installed. If it doesn't work, I'll try reversing one end. If all that fails, I'll cough up the 25 bux for a new knob/cable.
BTW, I check the impedance...through two of the outside pins, it rolls from 0Ω to about 20KΩ. I guess it only utilizes two pins.
