Yes homemade gazpacho. Using farmer's market ripe tomatoes. If it's wintertime, and panicky desperation arises, a can of Italian San Marzano tomatoes makes a completely edible gazpacho.

No. You can not use canned tomatoes to make gazpacho. You simply can not. Absolutely you can not, you should not, you must not!

BTW, I got some seeds from Barcelona last year for tomaquets de penjar ( tomatoes for hanging )

If you can't get them, PM and I can send you some...

If you must need home grown tomatoes in winter, then this is what you need. I'm growing them this year for the first time. On our one month trip last year, we bought a bunch of them on the first day at our airBnB and we had them hanging in the kitchen for the whole month!

There something that makes me happy seeing fresh tomatoes in the kitchen. That and some bottles of wines, vermouth and cognac by the TV... ;-)

BTW, we can get great tomatoes year round now at Whole Foods... not as good as homemade but then I don't have to fight the local rodents for the fruits.

Good tomatoes frome the garden are unbeatable !
Those look delicious. My tomato growing attempts this year have so far been an abject failure with a couple of heirloom varieties. At the weekend my sister gave me some rather heathier plants so I might still get some toms. Nightshade grows well in the garden so it should be good for other members of that family

Put it back in your pants Tony baby. The afternoon wine and cigars are having their affect.
To say can't, is a huge misnomer my friend.
Remember, I am responding to a man who offers forth ketchup, yellow mustard and mayonnaise as perfectly acceptable condiments in his gormay kwizeen.

Have you compared the supermarket tomatoes and the tomatoes that grows in your garden ? the supermarket ones are hard as and apple and the gardened ones are so tender that they can be cutted with the side of a fork, whatever species it is.
