Highest displacement per $ woofers 2025

I didn't see that exact driver on their web site.

Polish brand. Heard some smaller models 6,5" or 8" i can't remember and they sounded convincing in two ways. When i heard price paid by the owner i was blown away by the sound/price ratio.
That said, i didn't liked how the chassis looked quality wise upon further inspection ( stamped steel) but to have such low price compromise have to be made somewhere and i would have made the same (sound rather than look/feels).
However never heard a complaint about the driver by the owner since.

Maybe one of or Polish members could comment about them they are often used in project in there from what i've seen.
Other members mentioned them too like @b_force, i think he already used them in commercial products iirc.

@krivium Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately both drivers are "not in stock" and the availability is "none". I am not sure if this means they will never be available again, or just that they do not have any right now.

I would very much like to know if other DIYers in Poland or Europe feel that the STX brand is good, or share their personal experiences with STX drivers in general.

Contact them and they'll tell when they'll be in stock, it's often the case with their site but they had the reference displayed availlable ( my friend was part of a group buy of 'unvaillable' drivers too when they planned the build, eventually they got it with short waiting period).

They probably don't stock. Don't know if they are outsourced or build on demand?
The ones in stock are the ones used in their loudspeakers range. Anyway the subwoofer was availlable in 2x4 ohms some month ago ( but low numbers, which makes me think they do (or outsource) small runs 'on request orders' and stock only remaining pieces).

The cost of shipping one of those to Europe is extremely high, and there will be import duties as well.

It's indeed a bit of a trouble making a list that is valid worldwide. Some products / manufacturers tend to be based out of the EU and offer low prices there, and same for the US. If you want those products in the other continent, they will be much more expensive. Then ofc, one could make a list for direct imports from China (mostly only available in bulk) as well.. I mean, everything is produced there anyway.

Stereo Integrity has completely nuked their web page for their HT-18 subwoofer, I guess we won't be seeing that one anymore lol

Specs can be found on Facebook here, the Stereo Integrity page isn't even in The Wayback Machine:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/2253281528235134/posts/3405782022985073/

It has an 18" cone and 25mm of xmax and you can find units on sale on Craigslist and eBay RIGHT NOW for under $200 delivered. Will be really hard to beat that deal.

They must have literally just taken the v3 site down, because the page was active when I linked to it in my comment!

This is such a great idea for a thread. I started looking at $ / displacement a few years ago. I also became interested in the box volume / displacement ratio for sealed box designs. A small box is a wonderful thing as it costs less, weighs less and has higher internal and panel mode frequencies. The other interesting design factor was the maximum SPL produced at the low frequency limit I want to design for. I put several of these things in a spread sheet. I also included the Linkwitz Transform (asymmetric second order shelf filter) calculation that can be used to equalize the low end F3 and Q response of any driver. It works well to extend the low end of woofers or to raise the low frequency cutoff of midranges and tweeters. Have a look, copy and modify as you like.

Some that are sourceable in Europe, but there is a price from import /shipping, might be cheaper to buy them 'local and ship.

Masori.de has several of the high xmax 'car brands like sundown audio etc, for just as ridicilous prices.

When talking about subwoofers i fuldt agree that Xmax is one of the most imposant parameters, but the other T/S parameters also need to fit your use!
In a given box side, hov much power does it take to reach Xmax art f0?
Power might be plenty today but this also cost €$£

But great thread …. Also looking for good options myself👍

For a floorstander 3 Way I’m considering 4xReckhorn D200 vented ….. seems to be a very competetive option

So, as i have interest in the driver we talked about i contacted STX about availlability and a possible order:

The W30.500.2x4 is availlable to order and a batch/serie will be built around july this year.

So they are not outsourced as i supposed but build inhouse and they are definitely availlable and open to order.

I can say that their service is top notch: i asked if it was possible to have them with following serial numbers ( i'll use them in opposed push/push pairs) and it is possible and they even give option to have them T/S matched ( require added cost of course).

Adriana which i communicated with is great with clear answers.

I'm sold and will order with them.

Since my post you quoted above I did mange to exchange emails with someone at STX regarding the M.15.250.8.FCX midrange and they mentioned they would be building another batch "in a couple of months". I am very interested in those drivers, and in STX in general, so I hope this all comes true.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about STX. They are definitely on my radar.

GAS MAD S1-124

In Denmark often 120€ for two. Claiming 17 mm xmax

Unbenannt2s.jpg

Tested (measured) yesterday.

Full review, as with the Alpine SWG-1244 (see OP), will be on my YT channel, eventually (I have enough other content for now). In the meantime, I'll spare anyone interested in these drivers the expense and will share that the 17mm Xmax claim is, as somewhat expected, bogus. The distortion limited output of the GAS turned out significantly lower than the SWG-1244's with its true 10mm excursion ((30mm Hvc - 10mm Hg) / 2).

The SAN184.03 is not really a subwoofer but more of a PA speaker because of its Fs and Qts values, unless you use a box that is the size of a decent closet. Seems to have some great features like demodulation but Xmax is only 12,5mm which is not all that high. The 43,4mm excursion figure is actually the mechanical peak to peak limit and not the more typical Xmax metric. The driver is not exactly cheap, with the price at TLHP listed at about 450 Euros...
