New Markaudio Drivers

If worst comes to worst, small R||C||L components (grouped in parallel) can be connected to create a notch filter in series with the speaker. But that seems unlikely. Not all peaks on a FR plot actually 'ring'. You'd have to confirm with other measurements like a step response, or waterfall.
Now, why am I still being made to wait for my Alpair 5Gs? Do I have to go to Japan and get them myself?😉

Have you tried modelling one yourself? Fusion 360 is free and the skills required to draw a speaker cover can be attained in an hour or two. There's near-unlimited tutorials on YouTube that cover the basic shapes and extrusion techniques you need, and the MarkAudio datasheets have very accurate measurements to base your design on - so it's all there waiting for you!

I've only been playing with F360 for a couple of weeks and came up with this.

Vermouth,

Maybe you can consider making the top piece like shown on the right side of the image below; that way you can build the speaker within 1220 mm and add an 18mm thick piece on the top.

Hello,

I want to build a new speaker.

My room is kinda big, 60 m2 with a 5 meter vaulted ceiling. So I need some output.

I have this idea of using two fullrange units per box wired in parallel to get more SPL. (If there's already thread to read, I can't find it).

It could be a posibility to have one of the drivers pointing towards the ceiling to play into omni territory.

I'm looking at various drivers from Markaudio, but maybe some smaller pro-audio drivers would be better at handling this design?

Can this be done with good results?

I will use subs from about 100hz and down.

Thanks,

Mads

Yes.

My room is larger than yours with a similoar vault.

How loud do you really want to play? Whty kind of amplifier? You probably don’t need as “much” as you think.

A m castle arrangement can certainly work. There are some comments here on microTower Castles, with care they work very well, and largely eliminates issues with combing, image well while still being quite spacious.

Thank you.

My amp at the moment is a Schiit Aegir 1. That can be up or sidegraded if needs be.

90% of the time I don't play loud at all. But it's nice to have the option those other 10% of the time...

Those Castle builds look interesting. I was initially looing at a drawing of the Lowther Acousta 124 and really liked the look. But the horn in the Acousta 124 build is definitely too ambitious for my wood working skills.

It seems like the Alpair 7 MS, the Pluvia 7.2 HD are the ones used in the Castle towers?

Is it possible to somehow convert the Castle tower to a golden ratio cabinet?
