Need to make (or buy, unlikely) speakers on front wall. Concerns are oddball effects, isolation from wall material, getting drivers aligned with sweet spot when driver height will be minimum of 150 cm / 5 feet (angle down and in a fraction? Thoughts so far:
1. Will run with sub
2. Make thin
3. Surround by acoustic foam or something else up to level of baffle
4. Designs considered (without much research) include spiral horn (Cornu) and https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/tangband-3-inch-honeycomb-cone-w3-1797s-hbw-08.409698/
5. Driver size: Was ready to build Pluvia 7 HD floor standers, but I mocked up a couple of designs, which I always knock over - not enough floor space. Have no issue with driver size, but 3" I made already could do with more ooommph in the room. Those are HiVi B3N, so perhaps some other 3" might do, but I could go up to 5" or 6" without any concern. [If the layout on the other side of the wall were different, I'd be looking at putting drivers in the wall].
6. If wall mount is too much compromise, I can go with fairly compact bookshelf (I'm tight on space, with SO's home theatre unit taking up space). GR-Research suggested https://gr-research.com/product/lgk-2-0-pair/ but reviews mixed.
7. I could mount speakers on shelf or extending wall mounts.
8. I could use floor stand speakers upside down, spaced about 1 ft / 30 cm from wall
Thanks for any suggestions, considerations, sympathy. I'm disappointed that a floor stand set really won't work given narrow, fairly crowded available floor space and the conflict between home theatre use by SO and my desire for crisp, clear, delicate audio without video.

Yeah! That's pretty cool. I might be able to mount the drivers slightly pointed in. Clever, simple. Thanks!Maybe look through this wall mount design for additional inspiration.
With wall mount you need to have a well damped box alignment, and try to merge the box into the wall to flatten the 2∏ to 4∏ transition.
A sealed enclosure might be the best bet.

Have a look at the mini Karlsonators perhaps. If made with foamcore they are very light and easy to mount against the wall. They play and image very well against a wall. I made the 0.4X with single TC9FD drivers for my wife. Mounted high against the wall facing down. She uses them daily.
A forum friend, Skylar88, has the dual 3FE25 Mini Karlsonators, also wall mounted. Listening nearfield to these are truly remarkable.

Edit Nov 30, 2021: Andrewbee posted plans (that he got somewhere on DIYA, we thank the author whoever you are) for a Karlsonator for the W5-2143. I don’t remember the simulation on this one but I have literally done hundreds so would not surprise me if I forgot. Looks like a taller aspect ratio and that makes sense as this driver has a lower Qts and more powerful motor.

Thank you. I'm not sure what " well damped box alignment" means, but sealed and the transition to the wall make sense. Would this need to be sloped into up and down as well as left and right? I could laminate a moderately interesting shape. Wonder what the "ideal" would be!
On the other hand, I just set up my 8 cm 3" HiVi BG3N mini tube speakers next to the Polk RT55 bookshelves, with the 10" sub in place, and they're distinctly better in most ways that count to me. I'll see how the SO likes it - maybe I can just sell the Polk system and make something nice. That would give me over 30 cm / 12" of depth and 150 cm / 5 ft of height. The Polks don't like my HTA100, or it reveals some weaknesses in that system (it has two 6.5" dynamic balance drivers, and a 1" dome tweeter) .
In the meantime, I'll work up a slope side model for a few drivers.

Well damped means it starts rolling off sooner but at a slower rate. I’d target a 0.5 Q sealed box. About 9 litres for the P7HD.
The more elaborate box would be better, but adds a significant degree of difficulty.

Pointing them at yourself doesn't always lead to the optimum balance. I thought this might be good to know since tilting them from being normal to the wall will present a challenge with the cabinet shape (which is fine if there's a reason for it).angle down and in a fraction?
What about the Cornu Spiral Horn? There are a few threads on here and elsewhere.
Cornu makes for a great wall mount. wide enuff and skinnyt enuff to mesh with the walls. Extends the bass and may give enuff bass gain that it would need dampoing down. A good thing.

I have a folder started on these. Would be tempting to have a transparent front with decorated interior! Has me thinking of a cabinet shaped like an ammonite shell, and painted accordingly! I'm going to keep working on that. I have the skills to carve one in 3D, but the time would be somewhat outrageous. On the other hand, if I could get what I get for my violins, it might not be a bad thing to design and make a few of. I have a CNC machine within reasonable access, but that's hardly the way I do things.Cornu makes for a great wall mount.
The foam-core construction method is likely the best construction approach.
Use the CNC to put dados in the back piece to line them up.
Dcoration is easiest by stretching a print over them as a grill.

I couldn't figure out how to add text. I'd probably have my artist do something somewhat accurate, but in a Medieval style, with the head and tentacles on the back plate of the unit extended. The painting is from a fanciful map of Cretaceous Europe I commissioned, so having speakers that matched would be delightfully whimsical.
