Either here, Beast builder, or XA252 thread, someone asked about these pucks on an Aleph, Nelson replied that "it works like glue" and that has my head spinning....to retro fit pucks on typical first watt I imagine a few things need changing. Power supply and bias scheme....watching closely! Maybe not square law, but the pucks should carry over the high DF.Thank you very much to you and others for all the helpful and kind advices, I shall be careful, probably start experimenting with the proven IXFN140N30P/20P, and move from there, although I have the suspicions that IXFN140N30P/20P were chosen in order to find the matching P version for push pull circuit. In any case, this should keep a 60 year old man happy and busy to tinker around for a while 😊

hold your horses ........ it's not working as glue in all cases and, even if it work you must use few other tricks
in other words, it must be subjected to test in each particular case
for instance, even if that was/is borderline peculiar case, I tried puck in place of IRFP9140 in SissySIT, and it measured and sounded worse
now, as another example, of more common use - complementary mosfet follower stage - as in XA25 - say that basic one shown in Plethora of Pinjatas is good ...... while second one (as in XA25 and XA252) is even better ..... but with increased rails, to let it shine
Thanks for the reply, Fedex will visit me again soon, I think.not Papa, but to help him chill and enjoy in nice cup of brew..
fact - in XA25, IXFN140N30P and IXTN40P50P
It would make for interesting aleph....a project a bit over my head.hold your horses ........ it's not working as glue in all cases and, even if it work you must use few other tricks

upper mosfet is most likely not problem (to drive) per se, but I'm pretty sure that lower one would ask for nice follower stage, in between FE and said mosfet
Just heard swoosh of something flying over head.....yes I figured it would likely take different power supply, definitely different biasing setup, plus all the various adjustments of things, such as this follower stage you mention.
I'm perfectly happy with result I received from XA 252, right up until I made a bonehead maneuver and toasted it. Just seems like square law output stage and these pucks impressed me no end, a major jump forward.
Starting the P of P build, it like M25 ( build and boards in box waiting) are also square law, but not puck of course, so it should be interesting to see how much of this sound I like is from the square law stage, and how much is from pucks.
I have a feeling the dampening factor of the XA 252 is largely from the pucks, it really brings the bass out of speakers.
