Except not being able to drive or to operate machines.Tramadol 50mg. is the least habit forming or addictive opiod and is so popular because of it's lack of side effects.
Not the case for me j-p. It did not affect me other than to relieve pain. One in the morning and one in the evening and my day was just a regular old day. I had to take them for a few months continuous, and am not aware of any side effects.
Here it is listed as “forbidden to drive” regardless of personal anecdotes so driving while under influence and having an accident is then the Tramadol users fault.
Doctors therefor are even more reluctant with prescription.

So many different drugs being mentioned that I never heard of.
Naproxen Sodium/ Aleve 220mg is sold over the counter here in the US.
I have been substituting two 220mg doses of it a day for the last few days in place of the 800-1000 mg of ibuprofen a day I was on in hopes of relieving digestive system irritation I was experiencing.
I am not convinced that it is necessarily the better option yet. The pain relief seems less effective and unpredictable. I’ve spent a lot of time over the past couple days in complete grief over the aching relentless nerve pain that travels from my neck through my shoulder and down to my hand.
I’m still experiencing some digestive discomfort even though today I tried taking a magnesium based antacid at the same time as the Naproxen dose as I had read this can help.
I am trying to be patient, but it is difficult to go through on a daily basis and exhausting.

Advil is one brand name for ibuprofen. It's an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) just as Naproxen is. So they're the same class of drugs, even though one is by prescription only in Canada. The person who said Aleve is Naproxen is correct.
The person who said Naproxen is strong Advil is incorrect.

See if you can get your paws on the 500 mg Naproxen timed release version with stomach guard. Ask your doctor...I have been substituting two 220mg doses of it a day for the last few days in place of the 800-1000 mg of ibuprofen a day I was on in hopes of relieving digestive system irritation I was experiencing.
My dentist prescribed 250 mg Naproxen without the stomach guard when I had a tooth pulled. That did a number on my digestive system too. Nothing major, but enough that I stopped using it. I had no ill effects of the timed release w/stomach guard. Well... Except that it was more expensive.
I seem to recall reading that taking Naproxen in combination with dietary supplements is a bad idea as the Naproxen will just bind to some of the elements in the supplements. It can't do its thing if it's bound to some other molecule.

For a good reason, Ibuprofen likes can give heartstrokes. To use under the control of your doctor only.
I've heard this before, but never saw any solid source for that. Do you have one?Ibuprofen likes can give heartstrokes
Extended use of higher doses can raise blood pressure. Most commonly it's upset stomachs or occasionally, with higher doses, stomach ulcers.but never saw any solid source for that
In the UK you can drive after taking tramadol but are asked to watch out fro drowsiness.
Interesting. I guess some people are just not as hard headed as ol' Cal. I expect that if I took above the recommended dose, it might have adverse affects. Here it is listed as “forbidden to drive”
Understood.Advil is one brand name for ibuprofen.
But Aleve is sold over the counter Tom. Only when it gets to 500 mg and they refer to it as Naproxen does it require a prescription AFAIK. I did not know there was a 250 version until now. I was, and still am, given the 500. It was not an option. It was used post Tramadol treatment.even though one is by prescription only in Canada.
Did not know that. More reading is in order. Good tip to know.I seem to recall reading that taking Naproxen in combination with dietary supplements is a bad idea
Interesting. Just shows how inexperienced I am when it comes to painkillers. That seems like a good thing. 🙂But Aleve is sold over the counter Tom. French health minister. Not only Ibuprofen but also near moleculs and others NSAIDs. And I'm pretty sure the NHS has similar advices about it.I've heard this before, but never saw any solid source for that. Do you have one?
No problem under the doctor supervision. Take care if you are hypertensive or have an infection like flu for illustration that can raise with NSAIDs. Also if you are over 65. Kidney problems, asthma, stomach diseases ; take anticoagulating, or some over medics... Wehave victims every years despite having good health advert a little everywhere here.
To be short : never take this at painkiller in automedication act but ONLY under the doctor supervision (who knows).

Tramadol + diphenhydramine = high for druggies.
So it is restricted here.
Benadryl is a trade name for diphenhydramine.
If you think this post is telling addicts how to get a high, please edit / delete using your authority as a moderator.
Long term, Naproxen can cause permanent kidney damage.
My old college flat mate, and good friend to this day, had rheumatoid arthritis, used to take Naproxen, switched to lower doses - 200 mg - of ibuprofen, and later had Ayurvedic treatment, now lives in a coastal area, which helps, Bangalore used to be cold in those days, we never used a fridge, butter would not melt if stored on the counter for a week.
Now his city is like 35 C max., and 20 C minimum. That has helped a lot, just got hips changed in late 2022.
As for cartilage rebuilding, there are a lot of theories, including cartilage soup (= gelatine), hyalouronic acid injections and others...
People have genetic traits, the tendency to cartilage wear and osteoarthritis varies greatly, diet and physical activity also has a big influence.
At best, a Vitamin D course may help, the protocol here is one 60K IU tablet weekly for 8 weeks, then once a month for next 4 months.
Concurrently, tablets containing 1000 IU minimum daily, for six months, in parallel I mean, both should be taken during the same period.
And exposure to intense (Indian standard) sun for 15 minutes, OR 30 minutes mild sunlight, direct on skin, no shadow sitting, at least three days a week.
Canada, and other places, ask the local heath care providers about these parameters, light skinned people may get sunburn in Indian conditions...
Vitamin D helps absorb Calcium, and gets active only with sunlight as a trigger, so alternate sources to sunlight may work.
And you have to take Calcium tablets, or supplements, that is assumed.

I did say 'and others'...
Fortunately, apart from a knee with a tendency to twist, I do not suffer from bone pain, it will come as I get older.
And I had a badly twisted back, and spina bifida, I spent about a decade in pain, in the years 1978-88, cured by homeopathy.
Could not ride a two wheeler at times, have a swell back as the result of pain.
I have been through high doses of medicine, and 'live with it' from doctors, not much evident on X rays.
So I try to help those who are in need here.

Ok, hearesay then.🙂French health minister.
All the accountable sources I found so far indicate heart-related risks with ibuprofen for patients who already have heart disease only.
I use young ladies on top of me to help with my spinal curvature.
I use alcohol to ease the resulting pain and make me forget the sins I have just committed.
I use Tramadol mixed with Benadryl to make sure I sleep well and I get up the next morning so I can do it all again.
Naresh, please don’t respond to this post unless you understand the gist. it was intended to add a lightening of what so many of us are going through. Honestly, when I look at the lot of you, I stop worrying about what ‘Cal the train wreck’ is dealing with.
I admire what some of you go through yet you find the time to be here with those of a similar interest. It’s an escape, I get that. I’m just glad those posting here do too, and are not coming here for advice, just an understanding.
Cheers to all of you.

@Cal Weldon
You forgot to add that it is at that point you go home.
Has anyone come across any reliable information regarding interactions between Naproxen and supplements?
I did some searching and couldn’t locate anything relating to supplements except “there may be” statements and “consult your doctor”. Any mention of my supplement regime previosly to my doctor seemed to be dismissed off hand.
There was information regarding steering clear blood thinners a few other drugs. Not a concern for me.
