I have been skimming this topic mostly because it really is painful to read. It brings back some memories of such pain and the reminder that some of it is still there. It wasn't always so. Trouble is that my case like every case has differences unique or not to me. I was in trouble just like many of you here and was actually scared by the fact that one day, I wasn't sure that I could even get out of bed. A first time for everything I guess. It was then that I went to a specialist with nothing to lose. It has been over a year now since he put me on two medications: methotrexate (8 tablets of 2.5 mg once a week), and hydroxychloroquine (200 mg per day).
My point would be yes, one of these is a dangerous drug that I am well aware of. You look and look, trying many things out. Some help, some help for just a while, and most do not. Hopefully you find the compromise/risk that may be beneficial to you, but do know that any answer is likely temporary. Yes, the drugs work until they don't. In spite of the outcome, I am grateful for any relief for such a period of time. Best wishes all.

Osteoarthritis is a bitch.
I make my own medicine with cannabis.
Ointment and oil.
For everything very close to the skin the ointment works really well. When anything flairs up it takes away the pain for about 5 hours.

Not for long term use.
In fact, use for short periods only.

One folk remedy here in India is to add some castor oil to the flour being made for roti / chapati (unleavened flat breads), about 15 ml per head per meal.
And alternate is spread about 2 ml ghee per roti after cooking.
It is supposed to be a lubricant for the joints.
YMMV...offered in a helpful way.
And do try to get away from preserved foods, particularly cured meats, the preservatives are not good for you.
Feremnted foods like yoghurt, and wine...try a break for a week or two, see if it reduces the pain.
I know a friend who had to deal with it for 40 years...he has tried pretty nearly every medicine, common to weird.
What worked in the end was a hot climate, diet changes, plenty of fresh food, lots of fruits and vegetables.
And a really good orthopedic surgeon, both hip joints replaced, spine pain gone.
Take a second opinion, experience and a different approach sometimes gives a new perspective.

There's a huge array of possible approaches , though many of them require more personal effort on the part of the patient than they are accustomed to thinking they need to put in. It's a problem that prevents a lot of people taking care of these things themselves.
I will hazard a guess that if the OP is young enough and fit enough to continue focus on building speakers in the garage, they have what they need to fix their own trouble. Whether they are inclined to or not is another matter entirely.
