the ferofluid tweeters are shot. at first i heard it from one speaker. then started checking connections, back and forth speakerseatspeakerseat. I then was getting confusfrustrated. I was hearing it but couldnt isolate it. My wife, the non-listener listener artist type, says 'stupid pilot check your ears, its coming from the other speaker. What's the problem with your Kef ? Wonderfull speaker.

Should mention, the KEFs are first Gen. so quite long in the tooth.

It is easy to dismantle with care and clean then add new ferrofluid for less than 15 pounds. I did it long ago. The refurbishing of the filter passive parts is another story. Falcon has a 5% precision caps kit but it costs more than the 250.
You can try to sold them here too if all the drivers works. Check if the tweeter still produce sound and the domes are not pushed in. They also tend to loose their coating and so are fragile. You can check it carrefully with a finger but gently.
You can also sell the parts to try to get more than the loudspeakers for drivers enthusiasts. Then I would be glad to buy the T33 tweeters if not broken and fair price.
But I can not imagine an owner changed the caps without put again Ferofluid in the tweeters ?!
Yes unluckilly you have to remove all to have access to the top woofer trap to remove the filter pcb. But with a smartphone you can try to make a picture theough the bass vent.

huh, points to ponder for sure. I had been looking for the AT version of the 3WC but just couldnt remember the name. many thanks!
Much more effieicent than the KEFs, the one aspect i wasnt so thrilled with is the resistance swing. That has always been my challenge with the KEFs. I was really looking at something with decent sensitivity but a much better ohm rating, 4 or 8 is good but swinging up and down really kills valve amplifiers. At least that is what Troels and a few others have talked about and what I actually understood from what they talked about...I fully recognise what they said and what I understood could be huge distances apart. 😎

Impedance of the 104/2 is easy but amps needs " a little watts" but huge amount of current due to the complexity of the filter and number of drivers...6 units per channel...hungry loudspeaker for sure.
yeah that is why I am kind of questioning the what the guy said - well regardless, I've used them for 10+ years and they were great. My SET did not like them at all. I wonder why? 😆 they are power hungry beasts that is for sure. Ok thanks for the tips! i was mostly looking to see how folks were getting on with their 3WC and placements. Many thanks! But I can not imagine an owner changed the caps without put again Ferofluid in the tweeters ?!

Hello, are you happy with your Faital 3wc-15? I'm thinking about making them.I'm not sure if you're considering that high or low I would assume high. I own the Faital 3WC-15 which I love. Once got all the components in I looked up what it would have taken to buy the components to see how much of a markup there was and it was less than what I would have had to pay for the components individually.
The kit now costs 1600 euros (with VAT and shipping costs, without tweeters) did you pay that much for it?.
I still love the speakers. And still think they are a bargain.I forget exactly what I paid as the kit price. But I know I ended up around $2,400 US once you included the locally sourced Faitals, wood and walnut veneer. I did not go for the beryllium or the highest level capacitors.
I believe it comes with tweeters but no 15-in woofer

Thank you for your response, your creation is very beautiful.I still love the speakers. And still think they are a bargain.I forget exactly what I paid as the kit price. I think that like you I will house the midrange speaker in the front panel. Have you had the opportunity to compare them to commercial speakers? To have a reference point.
No side by sides of anything that I would see as relevant competition. I have a pair of LS50s that are in every respect far inferior.
I've heard cornwalls demoed In a show setting. The faitals are much more refined speaker.

Do you know what version of Cornwall this was? I would like to listen to version 4, but I can't find a store that offers it.
@matsurus Hi, which version of the Faital 3WC 10 have you compared ? I mean there are 3 versions berillum dome, fabric dome level1 and level 2. Prices are different as well...Compared to my brothers revised (capacitors changed new, contacts clened) NS1000 yamaha, faital sound almost as airy and detailed. Sound stage width is good, height is ok, could be a bit higher. Listening acoustic quitar, ns1000 defines instruments in space bit more clearly and separates them from each other, also same goes for singer.
Before you purchase your nxt kit find someone who has them up and running and have a listen.the best intentions from fellow diyers is gr8t but everyone interprets there experience of the sound of speakers according to thier experience.paying up front for something you have never heard comes with the unknown you might or not like the sound.plus all the variables of system synagie. I bought a commercial respected diy kitt and it was ok. Ive made lotts of changes for the better so diy tweeking you can always do.gd luck.
Fabric dome level 1.@matsurus Hi, which version of the Faital 3WC 10 have you compared ? I mean there are 3 versions berillum dome, fabric dome level1 and level 2. Prices are different as well...
I am interested in building these speakers but need the crossover values for all capacitors, inductors and resistors. Are you willing to share this data with me?
Are you serious? Surely you know this is a closed kit. You want, you pay. https://www.jantzen-audio.com/wp-content/uploads/Faital-3WC-10.pdf
I sold the shematic/BOM to you the double of Troels Kit price but without the filter parts, if you like ! 🤔🤣
When you buy the kit you will get a piece of paper with all the crossover values. Troels designs are "secret" and you cannot share them in the open.I am interested in building these speakers but need the crossover values for all capacitors, inductors and resistors. But actually, the Kit is quite a good price, there is no markup, and if you had to source them all individually, you also pay shipping several times over.
There are also a few open kits, like this powered Fusion 3WC. http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/FUSION-3.htm
But just search for "Open Kit" Troels Gravesen.
