A bit unsettling, hotel prices in Paris have fallen by as much as 50% England's star equestrian kicked off the team for whipping her horse. Japan's Shoko Miyata demoted for smoking a cigarette (how Un-French is that!). Delta Airlines expects to lose $100mm as flyers avoid Paris.

Unless you are actually going to the Olympics, it would make good sense to avoid Paris during the Games.
Unsettling for Delta Air Lines in terms of lost revenue perhaps, but certainly not unpredictable.
Woops! 🙂England's star equestrian kicked off the team for whipping her horse.
Apparently, someone connected to the Canadian Women's Soccer team was using a drone to spy on the team from New Zealand during their practice.

A few months back the BBC were interviewing a newspaper travel writer about price of hotels in Paris (it had bumped stupidly high) for the Olympics and he said to wait until just before the start of the games.A bit unsettling, hotel prices in Paris have fallen by as much as 50%
Apparently they always dip, because hotels always have beds they cannot shift at the inflated rates...
I do think the modern Olympics are an overstuffed nonsense.
Quite what tennis and bike riding and soccer is doing to be included, I have no idea.
I think the original idea was to find out who the best men (and occasionally women) were.
Rules were simple. No biting or gouging. Faster, Further, Stronger...
The whole thing must have been an ancient bookmakers dream!
Interestingly, every tormented schoolchild can name an ancient Olympian Boxing Champion.
And a special mention goes to…
the long-haired Pythagoras of Samos who turned up to compete in the boy’s section in 588BC but was barred due to his effeminate appearance. He took part in the men’s competition instead and won.

I presume this is Pythagoras fighting Euclid for the title of GOAT.

It's not a patch on the first modern Olympics that's for sure. Which was not where you might think it was....I do think the modern Olympics are an overstuffed nonsense.
I am in Europe right now, not at the Olympics, been to London for a couple of days first, took the high speed train to Paris, high speed train to Marseille. Hotel prices in France doubled, Tour the France was about to happen when we got to Marseille.A bit unsettling, hotel prices in Paris have fallen by as much as 50%
Drove to Rome and I was surprised to see Italy is way cheaper than France.
Paris is not advised for tourisme during the olympics, due to the hassles of mvt restrictions in Paris.
Also alas due certainly to some agressive third party countries sabotages (wich already won the gold medal of dictature or perhaps Red radicals whom always break all in the margins area of the strikes) here than begun today with the rails to waste the fest. That is sad and not représentative of what country is.
But I do think after the august 11 opportunités with hôtels will be ok w/o the Olympics hassles which avoid you to visit.

Two coaches were sent home and then the head coach was sent packing also. All from within the team not from the IIOC.someone connected to the Canadian Women's Soccer team was using a drone to spy
The bleedin' obvious?Unless you are actually going to the Olympics, it would make good sense to avoid Paris during the Games
Mind you, I'd avoid Paris in any case🤣
Now I am watching the opening ceremonies and wishing we had gone!
First time I have seen Snoop Dog not stoned.

there was rain, but there was good atmosphere... Most of the things could only be seen at TV or on the screens. Not everybody had a seat on the Seine.
I liked the horse and the blink eyes of the first montgofiere fly at the end in the black sky of Paris. Celine Dion old french song certainly only talked to french talkers but was emotional for them, epecially with all the dark days the country and the world is living nowadays in spite of making sport together a peacefull way.
At least it was not in a stadium for the first time...
My understanding is we have still 3 ceremonies ... (handi-sport, etc)

I don't know how/why beach volleyball got into the Olympics....
If that can be included, what about tiddly-winks, marbles and darts?
