DAC AD1862: Almost THT, I2S input, NOS, R-2R

RPI (CM4) with a JCAT femto USB card, running Volumio. It seems power supplies are as important in the streamer as for the JLsounds card.

In earlier setups, I ran Matrix audio, Denafrips Hermes and Magna Mano streamers. I do not feel my current setup gives up anything in contrast to these, but this is just a subjective opinion.

I dream of a clean digital streamer that not only gives a clean digital input for our diy dacs, but also permits FIR EQ.

I know some uses HQ Player on pc or like Camillla DSP, but didn't tried yet. Yes the hhardware quality and layout is veryyyy important imho.

I have used Volumio for several years with different DACs, DDCs and the JLsounds board. It can be frustrating at times when an upgrade derails functionality of a plugin, but it has never not recognised the USB connected DAC/devices. True that a commercial device may be more stable, but it comes at a price.

This one could also be used with 2.42 inch oled, but you will have to power it with a separate 3.3v supply because if you power it from the AK4118 board it will keep rebooting after every few seconds due to power overload.

Mine is a work in progress, cant compete in a beauty pageant as I am using a repurposed ROTEL casing front and back redesigned plates are still pending with the CNC guys.
The 2.42 display looks pretty cool though.

Hello friend, a picture from above? Just to understand your input selecto board... And what bloetooth module? Or the same AK4118?

I've been experimenting with streamer boards:
WiFi+BT+USB:

Just USB+interface for ADAU DSP
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...tichannel-input-output-interface-york.413504/
In future I consider a module with Linux SoC. But need to learn more about needs from DIYers 🙂

diyers, I do not know as many have differents needs. Wifi gives some shielding problems...

But what I could consider a progress in a good hardware than exist for two channels DAC could exist to stack several stacks for multi channels loudspeaker purposes. To be short an USB or Rj45 to multichannel hardware of good quality not depeending of a standalone multichennel dac ic. From my point of view such a device could be managed from a soft à la minidsp or HQ player or else like Camilla does but more friendly GUI user for the non geeks.

I2S links towards the devices should be from good quality like uf/l or else and avoid headers or be easilyy stackable.

Sorta of Pi station with input from a Master clock but with FIR tools à la MiniDsp. The final goal is to permit to the user to play with multiple 2 channels dac ic; one per channel for the loudspeakers. Of course it means there is still askings for old pcm chips like in this threads. For the moment but the epensive pro devices or the two channels that pop up here and there, I believe one need in the digital area : 4 channels streaming output hardware with a standalone input. 24/192 mini up to what allow the architecture and embeded or third party masterclock.

my 2 cents
It should be for evident reasons on a standalone smd pcb because the speeds and not 18 devices piggy backed to up the number of options like in the egyptan Dead book with a total pcbs area as big as the Kheops pyramid !
